It’s either Comfort, Sport+ or Indivual for me.

Does anyone even use Sport mode in your C63 and why?

God i wish there was a way to reprogram it to Sport+ that is starting from 2 (like Comfort).. my only problem with Sport+ not wanting the first shift in city.

What I do use it for is, parking. I don’t know if it’s the same with the c63, but with the c43 (what i have), sport+ raises the idling to around 1000rpm. When I’m Parking into a spot, riding on the brakes makes it squeal. To avoid the annoying sound it makes, I switch to sport which drops idling to around 5-600rpm but still uses 1st gear. I find it handy when getting in and out of a parking space.

Looks like I am the dissenter here. I get tired of the rather twitchy high-strung behavior of the S+ mode when I am driving around town. I also tire of the pops. Heck, I even find myself riding around in Race mode just because it doesn't pop as much. I came from a six speed manual and I find that S mode shifts more similar to how I would shift in my manual at lower RPMs. This reminds me of the time I purchased one of those "select comfort" mattresses. I found that I was constantly changing the setting and sent it back.

I should add that my personal "I" is set for engine = S, suspension = S+. and exhaust = S+. I just prefer the shift points on the S setting for normal driving.

Me. Well, sort of. My individual mode is sport for engine/trans. Comfort mode starts in 2nd gear, which I find annoying, and is very slow to downshift for acceleration, but I find sport+ a bit too aggressive for mostly relaxed daily driving. But if you're referring to the full sport mode preset, with sport engine/trans, sport suspension, exhaust valves closed, and ESC normal, then no I don't.

Unfortunately for me, sport mode is only useful for:
a. it's throttle setting which is my default setting in individual mode. I really like being able to control the throttle response vs how comfort mode does it ( i think i can offer a smoother ride by modulating the pedal in sport mode than in comfort mode which is too mushy and then kicks in too much.
b. the suspension - not sure what is up with the suspension in comfort mode but at higher speeds, the suspension is quite springy, and i need to push the suspension button to stick it in sport, or sometimes sport plus to give me less roll. I have an estate and it is a bit bouncy when going on country roads at higher speeds
c. The only time by default i stick it in sport mode is at night in urban areas where i want to drive fast but without the exhaust set to max bellow. The stiffer springs give me a more planted car and the exhaust button set at off doesnt wake up all the snoozing folks close by

Engine - Race
Suspension - Comfort
Exhaust - Sport
ESP - Sport
Transmission - Auto/D, but paddle shift up and down as if driving manually

Never. 95% of the time, I’m in Race Mode with comfort suspension and manual shifting.

On longer highway drives or traffic, I stick it in comfort mode (with auto stop/start disabled).

Rarely, I use Sport suspension on certain roads when it’s too floaty (Comfort) or too stiff (Sport+). But never actually use the Sport mode setting.

Spend lots of time in traffic so "I" is set for S engine/trans, C suspension and ESP on. I may start using S and change "I" to ESP off.

Same. S+ too shifty for stop and go traffic. On free roads with no traffic, I will be in Individual with S+ everything except comfort suspension. On back roads that are smooth it’s S+ all the way.

This topic needs a revival. I never use Sport mode, it's a dud.

Sport mode would be perfect for me if:
  • It started in 2nd gear like Comfort mode
  • Had the same crackles and bangs as Sport+
  • Suspension was in Comfort
  • Exhaust on loud

Maybe some day a tuner will be able to do this (or other combinations) for C63's

I start everyday in "Comfort Mode" until my temps go white on the AMG page.

After that if just cruising around town I flip back and forth between "Sport" and "Sport +" because I find "Sport" shifts more the way I like for normal street driving and since my AMG has Weistec cat less DP's...in Sport mode it just gives my car this deep throaty German Muscle sound Sport + for when I want to have fun and make some noise (Pops & Bangs)!

Being that my car is an "S" I do use "Race mode" when running in 1/2 mile events and the occasional street challenge...LOL

I have a burble tune with downpipes as well as a couple of other guys in the forum. I use sport mode when I want to drive a little more aggressive and don't want to sound like an AK-47 going off behind me.

I just close the valves for that - sport mode is even more useless with a tune. I get what youre saying though, my tuner mapped sport, sport plus and track each completely different. Driving in track mode is obnoxious.

I am almost always in Individual mode, with everything set to sport plus except suspension that is on comfort
The Sport settings are a useless half-step for me.

I used Sport mode quite a bit in Germany with my 2019. It had the right balance for relaxed long distance high speed travel. In Sport+, the shifts were unnecessarily harsh under acceleration and the suspension tended to unsettle the car over bumps at high speeds. I think it has its place. For the FL at least, the modes, suspension and obviously the transmission have been revised. The transmission always starts in 1st gear for example. Back on the home turf, I use Comfort mode with exhaust open around town (35 mph or less type of driving) and for long distance highway cruising with the driver assistance features engaged, but otherwise on the highway, open roads and general spirited driving I switch to Individual mode, which I've setup with everything like Sport+, except the suspension in Sport and the transmission in M. On the FL, the Sport suspension mode has the perfect balance between comfort and responsive steering/chassis. I find the Comfort suspension mode on the highway a bit too floaty for my taste, unless I'm just cruising along. In the canyons I pretty much put everything in Sport+, ESP in Sport Handling and keep the transmission in M.

Never use sport. It’s comfort, individual, or race.

Engine is set to sport+ in individual.
love the sound of race mode. Downshift is at ~2k rpms and the bangs are glorious.

Always individual for me. I don't drive the car daily, so when I do there is no need for anything but S+/Individual.

I don't use Sport mode. The two common modes I use are:

- Comfort + Exhaust-flaps-open (mapped to AMG Drive Unit left-hand-side button 1) + Auto-start-off (mapped to AMG Drive Unit left-hand-side button 2)
- Individual - Sport+ w/Suspension in Comfort - mapped to AMG Drive Unit right-hand side button on the Dial.

I stick with Comfort after I do a cold-start, and I switch to Individual only after the engine/tranny temps are in the white mark.

I also switch to Manual Transmission mode using the button on the console while driving on non-highways, again only after the temps are in the white mark. I have tried other suspension settings but I have found them pretty stiff unless I'm on a race track or something.

My C63S is a daily driver. I only really use Comfort, Sport+, or Individual.
  • Comfort for residential driving, commuting to work (usually with Distronic semi-autonomous on), crappy weather, or if the engine is cold.
  • Individual (set to mostly Sport+ but with Comfort suspensions) I use 90% of the time for everyday driving.
  • Sport+ for spirited driving on weekends.

Same. Sport is my default mode. If I'm on crappy potholed roads, I'll drop the suspension down to Comfort. And if I'm feeling like a hooligan, I go to Sport+.

Sport mode is my new favorite mode
Christ. A year ago I posted in this topic claiming that Sport mode was shiit. Now I'm now finding myself using it as my and default mode for city driving.

What I like about Sport mode is:

  • It takes off in 1st gear smoothly without being brash or jerky.
  • Excellent for drag racing from a standstill.
  • Comfortable even with the suspension is on Sport setting.
  • No obnoxious pops and bangs. Especially after living with the secondary cat delete for the last 6 months, the backfires can get tiresome after a while.
  • It double de-clutches on downshifts.
  • You can use it comfortably in traffic as it won't downshift into 1st gear until you slow down to 2km/h.

How about you lot? Who else uses this mode?
Anyone here actually like to drive with the exhaust on quiet sometimes, too?
