2019 C63S Deliveries

Talk about an insane car. I drove it yesterday for the first time. The transmission is soo much smoother than the old 7 speed. It rifles through gears and isn’t jerky at all. Hearing people complain about how harsh the ride is 100% LAUGHABLE!!! My e92 335 drives much more harsh than this car and it is stock besides a tune. I also have an s63 with the 6.2 lt v8 and this car shifts way way way smoother than that car.
The car in it’s maiden voyage brought insane joy and an overwhelming sensation of amazement. It blasted through my expectations which were INSANELY high. I can’t wait to get it back from the detailer this Friday or Saturday.
Another thing I would like to mention is the carbon fiber looks absolutely incredible inside and out. I drove the car by request through the bmw service at the same dealership because I take my 335 there for service and I am close with a lot of people that work there.. They all said forget BMW this thing is next level. All the service guys and techs eyes were wide open in awe. Over the last 20 years I never saw them in shock like that over a car. They couldn’t believe how amazing the new c63s coupe is looks wise and they were amazed at the sound and how much better the carbon fiber is on the merc than on bmw’s.. They LOVED all the carbon fiber. None of them could find issues with panel gaps or imperfections on the cars panels or the carbon fiber same with the detailer.
Build quality is amazing and driving it over bumps I heard zero rattles or squeaks or chirps. Same with the brakes they had no squeal whatsoever.
Seriously you guys and gals are gonna be amazed when you get this car. What an improvement inside and out looks wise and the transmission and suspension over the pre facelift.
Cant wait to share more when I get it back!!! Get hyped people because this car is absolutely incredible!!!
Complaints about the transmission are a similar thing. Know that it uses a clutch and not a torque converter and drive it accordingly.

I wonder if if there was a software update in regards to the transmission. I am very sensitive to these types of things. Some of the people worried me and having a lot of experience with AMG’s going back to 2002. I am very used to how jerky their transmissions historically have been. This car was the exact opposite. Instead of feeling like my bmws were always smoother in the transmission side of things this car felt like it was noticeably smoother and that includes ride quality which I was shocked over. The performance seats felt even better than I remember and kept me snug and not sliding at all. The support made my back very grateful.
The other thing which has been mentioned by someone else is race mode isn’t available. It says it is but nothing changes. The GM said it becomes available either after break in or after the differential oil is changed. I can’t remember which. I have no reason to think this is misinformation as others have said it too that have no connection to my dealer.
Lastly forgot if I mentioned this.. On carbon fiber end for those getting it or those that have it my dealer said they have had a few requests for replacement after the clear coat on the cf has started to deteriorate. Because of coatings on the cf Mercedes denied the replacement. they advised me not to coat the cf with any wax, sealant, coatings like ceramic or glass, or ppf. The clear coat on the cf is not the same as the clear coat on the rest of the car. This is the first I have heard of this and I talked with an AMG tech and he confirmed the same thing. I never heard of that outside the GM and the AMG Tech.

Similar thoughts with you on the 9G. As long as it’s in Sport mode it is excellence. Comfort mode is awful and worse in traffic. Enjoy!!
It will drop down a couple of gears instantly and smoothly.
My 2017 would drop them sequentially and you felt a slight kick with each drop.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG

What cars are you comparing this too that it makes you think the 9 speed is jerky? I haven’t heard any published reviews or amg hint at that.
I bet AMG will be updating software for transmission shortly. Not sure about sound though, it is what it is I guess

BTW, I think Priority 1 only means it's assigned to a particular customer. MBZ would have us believe it means it's a "top priority", but I think it's just an internal designation, with no real significance behind it...

- Quality: Overall, the car feels solid, but there is definitely some cost cutting plastic stuff that can be noticed. Some of the plastic parts on the new steering wheel seem cheap and depending on where I touch with my hand I can hear plastic creaking especially from above the middle section with all the buttons. I have the full Dynamica steering wheel, and I wish it was a little meatier. One annoying thing is the plastic cover for the side airbag on the performance seats. If it's adjusted back for a tall person, and then nobody is sitting there anymore, the belt buckle keeps banging against the cover when driving over uneven roads. Shouldn't be an issue for me as my wife is tiny and will have the seat further forward and then the issue goes away.
- Ride/Suspension/Comfort: So apparently you can't even trust the factory to delivery cars with proper tire pressure. It came at 38(f)/37(r) which matches none of the recommended tire pressures inside the fuel cap and is about 6 psi too high for normal driving up to 155 mph with two people and little cargo. The ride is definitely on the firm side in Comfort mode like this, but not uncomfortable. Granted I'm on German roads for now, but they aren't actually as pristine as they used to be and reminds me a lot of the current CA road conditions. Can feel stuff in the road, but I don't necessarily mind it. Gonna adjust the tire pressure tomorrow morning to the proper setting and that should bring things to where I was expecting them. I will have to increase them up after brake in for the 180 mph top speed. Will be interesting how it rides then. The performance seats are great. Absolutely no regrets. I find them actually slightly more comfortable than the seats in my RS5. The seat cushion is wider, so the side bolster on their widest setting isn't cutting into my legs as they do in my RS5. I have a 6 hour trip ahead of me on Wednesday, and I'm not concerned at all about any comfort issues.
- Transmission: This is very early obviously with the transmission not having learned my driving style yet and the clutches brand new and everything. There's definitely some bucking at low speeds for now and the car's powertrain is more on the aggressive side in Comfort mode compared to my RS5. I expect this to change as the transmission gets broken in, and I'm already learning how to properly modulate the throttle to make things smooth. The dual clutch transmission in my RS5 also feels and shifts differently now, then it did when I first got the car. I don't really mind it. I like an aggressive transmission where you can still feel what's going on. Also, I have the full driving assistance feature and in stop&go traffic it moves the car very smoothly, so it's definitely just a matter of learning proper throttle modulation. I've only been driving in Comfort mode so far.
- Speaking of Driving Assistance, I'm glad I got the package. It works great. The car practically drives itself if you just wanna comfortably and casually plod along and hit traffic on the way. It smoothly brings the car to a stop if traffic comes to a stop and resumes on its own if the stop wasn't too long, otherwise you just have to give it some throttle and then it resumes. It adapts nicely to the speed limit signs (great in Europe with all the stationary radar speed traps) and it slows down for curves, traffic circles etc, and mostly manages to follow the road even taking relatively sharp turns on its own. I also like how it detects my hands even if I just slightly hold the steering wheel with one hand. It definitely makes the car very smooth and relaxing to drive in daily traffic situations.
- Parking sensors: Not sure what's going on and if I'm missing a setting, but I'm not getting any audible sound as I'm approaching obstacles. I have the full parking assistance package with the 360 camera. It does indicate visually that it sees obstacles and the camera is awesome, but I'm not sure what's going on. Any insight from others? I read the chapter in the manual again, and everything is turned on, the volume is turned up for the warning sound and the system is active.
- Random: They skimped a bit on settings, for example I haven't found a way to change the temperature units to Celsius, which is the system I think in and grew up with. They only seem to have a stetting for miles and km, which is currently on km given where I am. I like to see the climate setting in Celsius not Fahrenheit.
I think that's about it for first impressions so far. I have a 6 hour drive ahead of me on Wednesday. I'm gonna drive through the countryside down to Switzerland to visit my folks and I will post more impressions later as the car had some time to brake in. Here are a few quick pictures from the delivery. They served lunch right next to a GT R Pro.
