DME Tune

Has anyone confirmed on a dyno the DME tune results? They seem to claim fairly higher results than most tunes. The stage II w/ catless downpipes is 650HP/730TQ at the crank. Is this real?

I have their stage 2 catless tune, and have not dyno'd it. But I can tell you it pulls harder than Eurocharged's stage 2 tune that I had on my car previously. YMMV.

I just got my DME stage 2 tune last week. Make sure you change your spark plugs on your tuned cars every 10k miles currently my car is running a tad rough..i can also confirm that DMEs Tune Pulls hard, I had the euro charged tune as well, and there's no comparison. plus the customer service at DME is top notch, Good guys

Actually the spark plugs that is true. I have my car around 22k when I got the tune installed and had misfires so detune took the car back to mercedes for the work because it’s cover under warranty and then tune it again with no problems.

I don't know where you are located but if in Los Angeles area I can coordinate for you to ride along with DME tuned cars we have done locally. We can also tune in house for DME or do it remotely if out of state. Let me know if we can help!

For those who have commented, any of you running 91?

After having misfires, did you just simply put the stock file in and then go into mercedes without doing anything else?

I have ran 91 only because I live 2hrs away from the nearest station that sells Ultra 94 (petro) I can tell you that there is a noticeable difference in power from 91 to 93 and I suggest since you live Vancouver you fill up with ultra 94 unless your storing your car then use Vpower 91 as the 94 with its ethanol will just turn to water in 3 months. I don't suggest running 91.

I think shells vpower is the better performer compared to petros ultra 94. i like that it has no ethanol.

Shell vpower 91 is pretty much our best fuel here (BC/Alberta). Our only "94" is chevron 94 but based on MANY tuners, enthusiasts and forums that I've read over the years of being in the car scene, it actually performs the same until ambient temperature outside is high 20's, in which case it's worse. Our 91 is actually the worse gas in North America from what it seems, second to Cali perhaps. Even eastern canada has better gas, tuners can run more timing in the exact same setups over there. I only run Shell 91 or sometimes 92 from the state side when picking up parcels. I'd be going from 91 in a stock car to 91 on a tuned car so I'd likely feel the same difference as everyone else, just peak numbers in both stock and tuned would be down a bit versus 93. I'm mostly curious how the tune seems to run on 91 since most people I assume run 93 in the states. People who run canned tunes here usually have issues when the tunes are created on cars running fuel in the USA. I just went through all of this in my w204.

I just feel it on the *** dyno when I run the 94 as being stronger. when I have no 94 I only run v-power 91. As far as I know and I'm not an expert but as long the gas stays fresh theres nothing wrong with the higher ethanol ultra 94. I sure wish we had more options in alberta. But I will say that I requested that my dme tune be made for 93 octane so I suggest that you get the tune for whatever fuel your going to use, but I know my car likes the 94. I think the problem that I'm having is that gas prices are so expensive in my town and the premium fuels never gets used so it just sits in the tank

I didn't realize you guys still got petro/husky 94, that used to be our go-to fuel for car guys in British Columbia but they got rid of them here at least 10-15 years ago. Now we only have Chevron "94" but multiple tuners have proven it to be slightly less good than our shell 91, both of which contain no ethanol. I'd actually would prefer to have some ethanol in the v-power around here for it's anti-knock properties. Our 91 is also worse than most the 91 in the states. In fact I just read a whole thread on a local tuner doing a test between Washington 92, our 91 and our 94 on their development tune for the Audi RS3 and after draining the tank each time and testing on the same day the car made a pretty considerable amount of more power on WA 92 and then our fuel. It's funny because we have a track right at sea level with good surface, prep and air but our cars tend to run slower than our american counterparts in any given different car community. It was a bit of a nightmare getting my 2012 c63 tuned and even after some custom tuning it still made 20-30 whp less than the guys in the states with my same setup. As long as I know the car wouldn't be pulling timing left, right and centre running 91 then I'd like to order a tune for this car though.

+1 for Spark plugs if you're tuned and around 20K miles. Good PM.

Admittedly stupid question and admittedly didn’t search but how bad are spark plugs to do in this car? I can’t picture if any are jammed under the firewall etc.

Had to remove the fuel line on the driver's side to get the last 3 out, but passenger side 4 weren't so bad. All done under 1 hr.

Bump on the above thread, I know most of you guys were commenting in regard to the w250 chassis, but was curious your continued longevity and experience with DME as I am considering them for my w205 507. Also, regarding the spark plugs, are these an issue/concern on the 204 as well? I am currently at 36k miles on stock plugs as far as I know.

Thank you!

I have a EC Tune, so far no issues, but I always wondered about DME and almost went with them, but had already purchased. Anyway, do they just put the tune on there, or do hey give you a MyGenius handheld so you can add and remove at will? Last, do they DYNO the car before and after or make any changes individual to each car by data logging, driving it? Or do they just have a tune they have worked up that they use based on mods?

Do you change the spark plugs yourself or bring it to Mercedes? Will your sa question why you are changing the spark plugs so early?
