2016 C63s Recalls or Lemon-Like Symptoms?
I told myself before that I would not post this but, here I am. After arguing via text with a self-professed AMG guru I need your help.
My brother has been looking at a 2016 C63s with 50k miles. He said it drove great, had almost every option (aside from the sunshade and performance exhaust), blah, blah.
Then he sent me the carfax.
Am I crazy or is this normal for a Mercedes? I read that the car had an insane amount of recall notices. However, the previous owners went in to get their computer re-programmed multiple times on top of a bunch of other weird undicumented services.
Also, the accident was negligible. Even the TrueFrame report indicated that. It received a 95/100 and their photos and findings do not show anything weird (checking this myself next time I go with him. I rebuild salvage cars all the time so this is up my alley.)
Let me know what you think guys. Hopefully, I am not overreacting.
Thanks!

Put it this way, a "pristine condition" one will already come with some small niggly issues (I guarantee that). Imagine what this nugget would be like below the surface. It's not worth the discount.
These cars can be finicky to own. You never know what issue will decide to appear at times. Whether it's a coil dying, a rattling exhaust, some electrical faults or a radar sensor going nuts etc.
Always get one with some warranty left in case any surprises pop up.
It sounds like a sh*t car. Sorry.

That's what I've been saying this whole time but my tuner buddy keeps insisting. I guess my instinct about Mercedes is justified then (I am an Audi/Porsche guy, what the **** do I know lol.)
Still.
Is it normal for a C63s to go in service THAT many times regardless of if it was in an accident or not? I saw 6 Recall Notices man!

It's ugly with hideous red trim, accidents, 50,000 miles and they want $40,000 large? Tell them to stick it up their a*sses hahahaha

- 50k miles for 2016 car is not much
- Accident - was evaluated by independent party and they guaranty their assessment, cosmetic repair < $1k means some scratch and dent repair as almost anything replacing would cost more -> such an accident is a good negotiating leverage
- looks previous owner serviced it well, i.e. at least once or twice each year is a good thing. + everytime the car gets sold it adds another inspection in that year
- computer reprogramming - very common, my car is pristine and a 2018 and already has 2 of these done during normal service (differential, suspension)
- where do you see recalls in the report? But I rather have someone take care of all recall's vs not. Has nothing to do with this particular call - some recalls are benign...like I had a "recall" for my 2 computer reprogramming events,
So, if the final price is right (compare to KBB etc) then why not.

I actually lucked out on a so-called damaged RS5 a couple years back.
People see "damaged in accident" but, fail to realize you can get good deals out of those cars.
My brother has been surprised by these repsonses though lol. Keep em coming haha!
Idk bro. If they are willing to take 35k for it, I might consider it.
I also know a guy who knows a guy who knows the previous owner of this car. The previous owner babied it from what I was told which actually got me and my bro interested in it in the first place. That's the only reason I would even consider this car AT ALL. The guy apparently did not think it was fast enough and bought a tuned R8 V10+ instead.

I thought recall work was done because, this thing was in and out of the shop MULTIPLE times.
The real question is, if we can somehow finesse the dealer into selling it to us at a loss for like 35k then we would be golden lol. (Not going to happen probably.)
I lucked out on a B8.5 RS5 that was in an accident. Most people who think they know stuff about cars instantly reject those cars. Which is good because, it means I can get a car for cheaper than usual due to herd fear.
This car may in fact be a gem but, I wanted everyone's opinion regarding the repair work and if it looked nornal or not.
Not a huge fan of the interior. I like white on white but, that's just me. Younger people tend to like the racing red more.
I was patient and got an insane deal on a 2016 with 4,500 miles that was fully optioned. Be patient.

He is a part of those clubs in the city though. I used to be the same way but, he substantiates all his claims. Hell even the GTR's in the famous Gangster Squad videos he helped build and tune.
I mean you can have your own opinion but, this buddy of mine ain't bs'ing I will tell you that much....
