Oil catch cans on our engines? How?

I have questions. Can one install catch cans on engines such as ours? Would it require one or two? If so, anyone do it yet? Or, if not, can one point me in the right direction?

No one makes it for the M177 yet, it would take a bit of fluffing around as the stock system uses a lot of hard plastic piping. You would need to change the turbo inlet couplers as these both have CCV vents in them as well as the fuel tank vent system (one of the couplers has two pipes into it for this) Getting some CNC blanking fittings would be the best way over replacing the entire couplers but you’d have to find a shop todo this

if goal with OCC is to prevent carbon build up on valves, could also use meth.

Just bumping this thread. Would love to do this. I've used provents in the past which work amazingly but are too big for the engine bay and we'll also need two of them.

Attached a couple shots of where the PCV outlets/inlets are so we can brainstorm a little more. Maybe we can plug the input on the coupler and find fittings/adapters for the 90 elbows on the PCV outputs? Go VTA BOV to free up the nipples and remove hoses on the forward part of the intakes and use the channels in the plastic covers that were made for those hoses to route hoses to the catch cans? Would like to see something like the APR catch can as part of a kit even though they are $250 a piece. They have a very good filter design and compact. Fitting them would still be a challenge. Looking forward to discuss this further and see some progress.

Bumping this a little. Pulled apart the M177 factory setup with @RDO247 and we are getting to work on it. Interesting the PFL is different to the 2019+ setup...

Playing devils advocate here, but is oil blow by an issue even with high HP builds? Certainly doesn’t seem to be the case with stock turbos.

I used to run a Draft42 catch can in my old
B5 S4 but that was out of necessity - 30+ psi in a 2.7l V6, the valve covers needed to breath badly. Have we seen this with the M177 and if so at what boost/power levels?

You’d think they’d come stock. Kinda ridiculous that it doesn’t given that this is a known issue.

If they came stock it would be considered a maintenance item. Manufacturers are trying to increase the scheduled maintenance interval and something like this would decrease it greatly. It is unfortunate because they are very beneficial and needed.

Blow by is probably one of the major contributing factors to the spark plug replacement recommendation every 20k. Plus oil coats the intercoolers making them less efficient and mixture lowers octane. There would be multiple benefits to this. The sooner we can get them installed the better for the overall longevity of the car.

Does anyone know what the smaller of the two lines that connect into the couplers are used for?

Whatever it is, it's expected to be sanitized, vaporized, and completely burnt before being thrown out your exhaust pipes. Stuff like this is deemed to be environmentally friendly. Kinda like the smog pumps were in the 70's.

I am interested in this as well, btw is the pictures shown in green circles are they crank case vents or are they valve cover vents? Because they look close to the valve cover instead of crank.

TBH we can't do everything at once. Yes this is one of them. But GT intake, A45, W212 E63 intakes keep us busy. Along with development.of some other products for other brand Cars.
It is started. Sorted for the W205, but want to make the kit suit more than 1 model. Checking a C190 GT next week. And will go back to W213 later in July.

Hows the saying go "when a man says he will do something, he will. No need to remind him every year!"
