This page looks more like a list of who's who for aftermarket vendors

I would suggest anyone to count the number of ads for wheels, tunes, pipes, CAI's and the like compared to the number of posts by people like us looking for help on just the first page. Yeah. I know all these vendors and hawkers pay to post their stuff here. But one would think they would be listed in the appropriate areas other than on the main posting page.

It gets ridiculous at times sorting between ads and posts. Right now it's almost a 50-50 split. At what point does it get to be too much?

This is by far the worst car forum I've ever been on. Almost regret buying an MB because of the lack of a good one!

It's absolutely dead. There should be a separate area for ads as suggested above.

It is truly disappointing. To be honest, I am surprised too.

This place is a joke.
IB (Internet Brands) and their local admins here refuse to do anything about the vendor spam, believe me, several of us have tried. The wheel vendors are the worst. No other forum I visit allows this from advertisers. Now we have another "new" vendor and their spam has already begun: Blaque Diamond Wheels

Moderators, you listening or have you been bought? I’m a member of several other forums of past and current automobiles. None of them allow this type of flagrant high jacking.

Let us know if we need to be looking elsewhere for another MB forum.

Problem is Bruce, there is no good alternative. If there was, I'd be contributing somewhere else.

That's the thing, it takes members content to create the traffic for ad revenue and market exposure for vendors to feel its worth spending on sponsorship to make a forum work but this place seems to have no problem pissing off the content creators.

Right now , 7 threads on the 1st page by AR_motorwerkz alone! Absolutely ridiculous.

AR_motorwerkz is the KING of spammers here. I just purchased 4 new wheels for my wagon...and NOT from them.

Hey guys we are not avoiding your concerns. This is an ongoing conversation in the moderator forum and IB is involved in this discussion. Currently, vendors are asked to have no more than one active thread/forum and we request that they "bump" in a responsible manner.

Feel free to pm me directly if you see excessive threads/bumps from a sponsor in this forum. All of our forum moderators, as well as Vic55 and I are members first. We receive zero compensation from IB. We all prefer car content over product sales. Unfortunately this site and several others are funded by business entities that apparently prefer not to do charity work for Mercedes owners.

BTW, I'm also active on Audizine and recently did a screen shot of the C8 RS6/RS7 forum. Thirteen of twenty threads were from forum sponsors. I don't like it there either.

Like mentioned, it takes site members to do "charity work" to create a platform that vendors will even consider paying to sell on. It's too bad you don't get compensated at all but that's just IB taking advantage of you. It is most likely making a profit even before sponsorship revenue due to the amount of advertising so please don't use that anecdotal response . Without member generated content, you don't have a viable platform for ad revenue or sponsorship, period. Unless IB wants to hire people to create all their content to drive traffic, etc. which then they would probably have to operate at a loss because of having bought out so many forums to again take advantage of this dynamic.

There has to be a give and take and this isn't working for us..

Agreed. Take a look at m3 post and see how proper forum is run (with separate spaces for vendors).

Most long-term members share because of their passion for cars and not because they feel the need to be compensated for providing content.

The "charity" comment was said in jest. I'm not here to justify MBworld's advertising practices. I posted only to let you know that IB has been informed of your concerns.

Is it possible to block certain posters, like JBSpeed, etc.? I haven't even been on this forum long, but I'm already completely over the spam.

Does anyone really need to see this, almost daily, when looking at new posts? This is crap.

This is yet another reason why this forum is so dead. Why would anyone bother coming on here to find new threads when they’re constantly being pushed down the board by advertisers bombarding with thread bumping? It’s spammy and ruins any user experience that’s left on this site...

Just several hours later, the kings of SPAM ARspamwerkz takes their turn with another big, hot dump on the MBworld forums.....

Its black Friday season, which is the reason for many of the ads. Also, its difficult for us smaller vendors to get discovered on these newer platforms as RT and WT takes up most of the online content. Not to mention the slowed economy is making more and more vendors resort to heavy post density to grab attention with the sheer rate of post refreshes on the main page.

I transitioned from a WRX to a c63 (ready to get flamed) but while the NASIOC forums were arcane, there was a technical thread area where vendors weren't allowed to post, and non technical forums. Truth be told, I did visit the vendor forums because A) it was like eating vegetables, I wanted the site to generate revenue because it was a healthy forum and B) the vendors didn't really have to SPAM since the active threads were left there and non active vendors were taken off as visible threads.

Flame me for my rice background, but if MBWorld was modeled as such, I would for one would appreciate it.

If everyone boycotted all the vendors, some would probably go away after a few months.

It's not about boycotting rather the focus should be demanding better content creation. The vendors here are lazy plain and simple. Post up an ad that sometimes may be relevant and walk away. If you go to M post you can see how they run their ads in the discussion forums. They talk about relevant project that obviously involve their products and/or services which get the community to get involved int he discussion. In contrast, right now at 3:50pm on 11/24 (PST) the top 5 thread are 4 lazy ads and this. We can do better.

This forum has been like this for years, it has nothing to do with Black Friday, the economy, or the pandemic. It’s 100% based on Internet Brands ad revenue model on MBWorld. There are plenty of Internet Brand owned forums (heck, most of the big ones all are) and don’t have nearly as much spam as here. It’s a horrible model, and to be frank, I’m shocked advertisers on here actually see these threads as value. The conversion rates must be absolutely abysmal with ads here if you need to keep bumping 2-3 year old threads every day.
