2020 Tuners

Not everyone offers a tuner for the 2020’s yet.

For those who have tuned their 2020, who did you chose and why?

Is the 20 that different to tune versus the 19?

Just got my '19 done by kirkland, stage 1 plus a little extra - seamless process. Have tried the Rennetech HHT, but they weren't able to get me what I wanted compared to Kirkland.

I've reached out to a few companies and they say the 2020 has not been unlocked for hand help tuners.

Where is Kirkland.

Should have clarified, looking for OBD hand held. I'd prefer not to send in for a bench tune.

But the same question exists, who did YOU choose and WHY?

It would be great to have a chart created on the different tunes, features, and what type of characteristics each tune brings.

I'm actually looking for a tune that is more linear in the powerband - more conservative down low, then shows more improvement the higher up the RPM to redline. The massive dumps of torque down low, I don't need for my style of driving.

If this is what your looking for...I would recommend Carbahn. This is exactly what I was looking for and exactly what I got from the Carbahn's tune. Hope that helps

Kirklandhans let's you use your own laptop to flash car.

That wouldn't make much sense since you can tell a tuner what you are looking for and they can build a tune around it.

Do a lot of research on tuners and make a wise choice.

I would start out with EC and Labworx. Talk to them, tell them what you are after and they will have a plan for you. We have about 75 tuned GLC 63's in my GLC Club and many of us are putting down crazy power with impressive numbers. There isn't a car on the street that I would be nervous taking a hit at me.

stock file will be saved to your computer , so you just plug in and open the software and flash file. He will go through it all step by step , its pretty simple.

Do not do business with Kirklandhans. He is a cover for who he really is - Steve from DIME RACING.

If you know anything about Steve’s departure from Weistec, then Dime, and then Yabeela, you know better not to do business. Steve is a convicted felon (he sold illegal automatic rifles) and now he’s going by “PTG” and pretending to be a tuner in Germany named Kirkland. If that isn’t fishy, then I don’t know what is.

Go with a company who isn’t afraid to say who they really are.

I was going to stay out of that part of the conversation but that is why I said to do your research.

A safe bet is always EC and Renntech

The most aggressive but trustworthy tuners are LabWorx and AMR

Research the heck out of anyone else.

I've been doing my research and have started to reach out and talk to a few shops. I was told that the 2019 and 2020's have to have the CPC module/TCU programed as well or you cant see the full benefits of a tune. Any one have this done on their 2020 or 2019?

If you have a CPC, a tune doesn't do much until you tune it.

On GLCs, they changed them at the end of 2019, mine doesn't have one but a sure way to see is to send you VIN to a tuner so they can look.

11.1 @ 127 mph when I had my AMR stage 2 93 oct file on the street. Ran 0-60 in 3.1 with a 1’ rollout.

And it’s the only tuner you can unmarry and resell as far as I know. Shameless “Mine’s for sale” - pm me if interested. I sold my AMG.

I'm not going to get to technical but most tuners disable or adjust torque management in the tune. What that does is give you a car that shifts like **** and has horrible drivability. I asked kirklandhans to turn them off and he said no we will log the car and tune all the parameters to have the car behave like a factory stock tune.

In the end you get a car that drives and shifts like a stock car. No jerky first gear or flutter and shuttering from 2500 to 3k. Nothing but pure power and I will bet money his tuning will out torque and power any ones files.. instead of disabling limits and codes he takes the time to tune all the torque targets in the file.

Here is an example of what the code looks like in xentry.

Uhm, there are plenty of tunes from reputable shops that shift smooth and no issues like you describe. I run one myself and it works great - none of the issues you claim all others have.
