Finally swapped my rims

It’s been the better part of a year since I posted my original rim swap thread. The swap with my friend never materialized since he got tired of constantly taking his rims back the shop to be properly restored to their factory color and look. It all worked out for me because on the recommendation of another friend, I went with aftermarket replicas. He had his RXC rims custom made to spec, drove on them for well over 20k miles with zero issues, and couldn’t say enough good things about his experience. So I decided to bite the bullet and go the same route.

Since I run wider 305R / 275F tires which do fit on our factory rims, the fit comes with a caveat. While traction is noticeably improved with wider tires, they have somewhat of a squared/boxy look which sort of defeats the purpose of as far as looks are concerned. This is because ideally, 305’s should be run on an 11” rim, and 275’s fit better on a 9.5” rim. So to fix this, I spec’d my rims 0.5” wider as follows:

Rims:
R: 20”x11” ET50
F: 19”x9.5” ET20

Tires:
Michelin Pilot Sport 4S
R: 305/30/20
F: 275/35/19

Upon placing my order, my new rims arrived in approximately 6 weeks via ocean freight. The center caps were shipped separately and arrived in a month. The rims were extremely well packaged. All 4 rims were individually double boxed in an extra heavy duty double-walled corrugated box with heavy duty edge protectors used as an additional precautionary measure. Needless to say, this was one of the finest packaging jobs I’ve ever seen:

These RXC replicas are top notch. The weight is a very close match to the RXC factory rims (I don’t recall the exact weight number off the top of my head). The paint finish, machined lip workmanship, and overall build quality is next level. I couldn’t be more pleased with how they turned out.

I took my car to Discount Tires for the swap job. They were very careful dismounting my original rims/tires to extract the TPS sensors, and equally careful when mounting new Michelin 4S’s on my new rims, not a single scratch on any of my 8 rims. The whole job was only around $120.

It’s been almost 10 weeks and 1500 miles of driving on my new rims and tires. Fitment was perfect, no rubbing or driveability issues whatsoever. My old tires were at the end of their life after just 6.5k miles so with my new rims and tires, it felt like a brand new ride. I couldn’t believe how smooth it was.

Now for the good part…here’s the finished look.

First, some before looks of my stock rims running 305R /275F 4S tires:

After pics…these rims transformed the entire look of my car. It turns more heads and the number of compliments I’ve received since the swap is crazy lol.

Congrats well done

As I said many times, these are by far best looking wheels for this car, but you need to see them in person to realise that….

I agree. They are the best looking wheels. I don't know why most opt for the other ones. Personally, I do not like how square the tires still are, though.

No doubt, they’re a huge upgrade from the multi spoke stock rims. Not to mention they’re so much easier to clean!

In person, it’s a noticeable improvement from the previous setup. I contemplated going with an 11.5” or even 12” rim but I’d be in uncharted territory. I couldn’t find any online examples of a C63s coupe running 11.5-12” rims. While an 11.5” or 12” might theoretically fit, I’d run the risk of rubbing, fender and caliper clearance issues so I decided to play it safe and stick with just a 0.5” increase from stock.

I have a like-new spare set of 295/265 4S’s laying around, so on my next tire change I might try them on to see if they look as good or better than the 305’s.

Christ I didn't even know they had aftermarket replicas. Are you sure they are replicas? They look 100% genuine. Do they say "Apptech" inside the wheels?

Car looks so good now man, has a real wow factor to it. Transformed, these are my all time favorite rims.

.
The packaging looks Chinese.
I don't believe APP Tech, as a OEM premium supplier, manufactures there.
And they don't look for me 100% identical to the OEM rims what i can see on the pictures - but I could be wrong, just my mind. Ask App Tech in Italy then you'll know for sure and you won't have to guess.

Enlighten us, how can you tell from the photos that they aren't identical?

Perhaps I was mistaken or overlooked something.
Details are hard to see because the pictures are little shadowy.

What do you mean with identical ?
The thread starter wrote „ RXC replicas“ .

Maybe there are more OEM RXC on the marktet
in other sizes ? … maybe for AMG GT etc but i dont know.

But for sure they look realy nice.

They’re most definitely forged replicas but the quality is insanely good. Cost was only a fraction of what you’d pay for a new set at the dealer. I forgot to check the inside of the wheels for any markings before they were mounted.

From what I heard, they get a lot of custom orders for high end cars and even from other wheel manufacturers. I can believe it as their gallery has quite a few supercars showcasing their rims.

Correct, they’re Chinese manufactured. But so is my iPhone and iPad, along with my Air Jordan collection so I didn’t see that as a being con or possible red flag.

I never claimed these were OEM or identical to OEM. They’re clearly replicas as you can see by the packaging, I mentioned that multiple times in my OP so I’m not sure what the confusion is?

Replicas by definition are never identical to OEM’s, otherwise they’d just be OEM’s and not replicas. That said, these rims certainly appear to be identical to OEM even to a trained eye, they’re that well crafted. I’m also curious to know what you see (visually speaking) that sets them apart from OEM’s because I genuinely must’ve missed it.
