Expenses & reliability of a MB Versus Bentley?

Anybody have opinions or first hand experience of owning a Bentley (1999 Arnage is what I was looking at) versus a 2002 MB CL ?

Are the costs of maintaining the Bentley substantially more?
Are the Bentleys reliable?

I don't know first hand. But I can almost guarantee you less reliable and more costly to fix. Thats why they are cheap used! generally the better something holds its resale, the more reliable it is.

something fast
stay away from the 99's, only 2000 and up. There were like 50-100 changes on the car between 99-2000. I was talking to a dealer I know and he personally owned a 99 and 2000 and he said they were light years apart in terms of handling and feel and reliability(plus the 2000 have the 400 hp and 620 or 650 lb/ft of torque . That is not saying much, the arnage is not considered a bulletproof car but I would definetly stay away from a 99 arnage.

Girthboy, how old are you? The arnage is a bit of an old man's car to me. I'd get the CL.

I was going to post the same question today and did a search first.

But I wanted to compare it to S55 the supercharged one.

Bentley is better looking car and more special. Merc supposed to be cheaper to own and cheaper to fix and more reliable. Would be nice to hear an owner's opinion though.

And Bentley should work fine as a family car. Has some rear space for a car seat.
Guess you really have to go and test drive one to see which one is a better ride/drive.

I would worry about where you would get it fixed if it broke down a long way from home. Not a lot of Bentley Dealers out there.

As far as the repairs are concerned.......the Bently is much more expensive to fix.
As far as the "old man's car" is concerned......try to get an Arnage T. It's more of a sporty model! Also, I've seen some real nice looking Bentleys with after market rims! I think any 20 something would love to drive!

I've seen Allen Iverson(Phila.76'rs) driving a new Rolls Phantom right through center city Philly! Imagine how he looks in that car..........I couldn't tell whether people were looking at him or the car! Picture your stereotypical young black man from the "hood" wearing a dew rag on his head and ****ed baseball cap..........driving right down Market Street in this $350,000+ Rolls Royce! I'm sure that not everyone recognized that it was A.I.! I thought this was very funny! HE didn't seem to be embarrassed at all!...lol
