Aftermarket Warranty
Newbie question here....
Found an 02 CL600 sport with 11000 miles on it and I'm just short of pulling the trigger on it.
Is there a legit warranty company out there that will write on this car? The dealer has searched and I have for a couple of days now.
Any help would be appreciated.

Do a search here as there has been several threads on this subject. Don't buy the car without a warranty.

Yes...
tblbtbsbmb:
I found a company for a member that had the same question. I even called the place before I wrote the thread below to double check it with a rep.
I do not have any info as to their ratings or reliability because I had already gotten a policy through "Warranty Direct" for my 500 to take me through to 100k mi. Maybe some other members on the forum have some feedback on them. Make sure that the company covers everything...especially the ABC.
Oh yeah....it was v8plus4 and the company was called "extended warranty brokers" or something like that.
v8plus4...what ended up happening? You never updated us on your thread...Did you get coverage??? Let us know.

Update...
I'm working with the Mercedes dealership now on getting the car inspected and they say that they've got one through JM&A.
Anyone have any info on them? I've looked around and can't find anything bad on them. Looks like they may be pretty good.

From reading all of the horror stories about these cars, I guess I need to get the warranty, but my car has been virtually problem-free so far. 35000 miles, and it's only been in the shop 7 times since new in 2002. Twice for service, twice for recalls, and 3 times for minor stuff like broken cupholder, tire pressure monitor, etc.
tblbtbsbmb, if the JM&A is purchased through the MB dealer, and they honor it, you should be okay. The car you are looking at sounds nice, but be careful what you pay for it. With the new body style out, these cars are dropping very rapidly, especially 2002 non-turbo cars.

The price....
Would mid 40's be too much? I've looked around all I can and I can't find one with this low miles for the price. I did see that even the newer models are dropping quickly.

Mid 40's is too much. A friend just bought an 02 600 from an authorized MB dealer back in Sept. Car has 32k miles, sport pkg and all options except distronic. Dealer was asking 52k all summer with no bites, they ended up selling it for 36.4k. Having followed the market closely, I wouldn't pay more than 39k. Alternatively, you may be getting into 03 CL55 territory if you're willing to spend closer to 50k.

2004 CL500
Comparison US warranties -V- UK warranties
Hi All,
Just got a quote for an extended warranty on a 2003 CL500 with 13K miles for £900 per year. Guess that's about $1600. However the list of excluded components is pretty extensive. For example the following are not covered:
- All bodywork, trim, upholstery, glass, paint sunroof, panels, wheels and tyres.
- Brake discs, pads, and shoes,
- Clutch cente/friction plate, cover plaet and release bearing,
- Cleaning or unblocking of fuel lines, filters, carbs, pumps, or control alves,
- Lamps, batteries, fuses, connectors, in-car audio and entertainment systems or nav systems,
- Exhaust gasket, pipes, cat convertor, hoses, water ingress,
- Oil leaks,
- Casings.
I'm trying to think what could go wrong with the car that would actually be covered. Do US warranties have this many exclusions?

Also, check for electronic component coverage as these cars are loaded with such parts.

www.warrantydirect.com don't offer warranty on CL600 '02 in California. Does anyone know anyone that will offer warranty for this car? A buddy of mine just bought a black one and I think his milage is close to 60k.
