Ipod add-on for CL

Hi everyone,

I've noticed that the pre-03 CL's have a extra button on top of the Comand screen that is blank. I've heard in europe this was a TV button. I'm wondering if I can use this to hook up an iPod adapter to play an iPod in the car or if I can just hook a adapter to have an AUX cable come out of it to hook up any sort of MP3 player? Or can I hook up a DVD player or another CD changer? What are my options?

Yes you can, but you have to send it in so they can put a chip in it to allow it to do that. see the previous thread Ipod/Chip https://mbworld.org/forums/cl-class-...chip-ipod.html
This is what I have, i hit that extra button and i can play my ipod and watch movies

Gateway 500 allows steering wheel control, but I've been told it can get slow sometimes. I would go with the gateway for ipod control considering the price is around the same as this "reflash" (at least where I got quoted).

I was informed it takes a while to load songs, switch songs etc. Like how a computer slows down when its loading information etc. Only on the steering wheel controls though. He also said that 04+ might not be slow. You will lose cd changer with the gateway also.

My Denison dealer here says I will retain full use of my changer and he has never experienced a slow down yet either. Then again he is tryin to sell it to me and has never sold one to a CL customer yet so.........
Just curious, will I be able to watch video while driving with the Gateway 500?

More on the device:

Not sure if it would retrofit onto CL though.

I didn't think much about it, until I received an e-mail from Mercedes with my vin # on it, listing all the new features.

Has anybody installed this:?
