2002 CL500 ABC Drive Carefully Light On. Repair Costs?
Also need to replace the brakes. Squeeking scrape noise by rear wheels when going slow. Could the electronic kicked the ABC off for safety?
Just scared it's the pump. Has 160k miles, paid $6k for it in December. Then I bought some nice deep dish wheels for $3,500. Had to replace the accelerator, then I have to replace the left blinker and both high beams. And some one side swiped my passenger side view mirror, light broke, as well as brake light cracked, nothing on the body though.
Honestly, just might sell it fml...... I love it too. Just so expensive.
If you have Comprehensive coverage in your car insurance they cover water damage
First get it hooked up to Mercedes star COmputer to verify the problem
Check the electrical connections on the strut tops.
Inspect the suspension level sensors at each corner.
Does the power steering work OK?
Nick
The Light was the red ABC Drive Carefully light. I unhooked battery to see if it would go away but cam on instantly. Suspension fine now though.
Power Steering is fine. There is a humming sound when I drive, but that might just be my low profile tires, they are pretty loud. And there is a clanking/scrape sound at the rear wheels but pretty sure it's because I need new brakes.... bad.
When the ABC was on it was driving like a boat in the ocean, was gonna get sea sick. But it seems fine now.

Nope. But the light is back on now, this time the yellow ABC light instead of the red. Leaking oil now in the front too lol. Actually tbh after I took it in for an oil change months ago, the engine oil level **** car light comes on all the time. He said he probably damaged knocked the sensor and don't worry about it. And the light came on the the brake bulb on the left is going out. And after a hard rain yesterday, water is leaking under the passenger dash lol.
Taking it to a shop tomorrow, but he's not a Merc guy, just said he does some stuff lol. I'm f*cked. Wheel noise is getting louder, hope it's just the brakes. Clanking noise not a hum. Almost like something is hitting the inside of my rims lol.

Not really. I mean give me a Chevy truck, I know a little. Merc's... nada. Got a date with the mechanics tomorrow. What's it gonna cost me about? Mechanic is a half hour away, going to be driving on the highway after filling oil back up. Safe to do that?
Guessing that means at least a few grand right?
Unclog it immediately by running a long chopstick or screwdriver through their drain hole

The water will come pouring out under the car instead of into the cabin
You must absolutely get all the water out of the reservoir under the windshield before you start the car again. Then pull up your carpeting from under the dash and soak up all the water runninh in the electrical trough that's under the carpet . It runs from front to back to the rear SAM
If you don't clear out and dry all the water under the carpet you'll damage the entire electrical system as things short out when wet and powered on, so it's essential you dry it out under the passenger carpet using a hair dryer , towels or whatever you have handy before you start it or drive it to the mechanic

Update from the mechanic. Car is there overnight till I figur out what I want to do.
He said the leak and the ABC light is because the pump went bad and is leaking. Said part alone is $2400. Is the leaking under the front of my car not from the water leaking under my dash from the clogged reed valve?
Front brakes need replaced. He didn't say anything about the back even though that's where the noise is coming from. Another $500 though.
He said it's going to be 3k total.
Does that sound accurate to you guys? Have to make a decision by morning, closed now.
You may have a bad abc pump leaking oil , but you can get remanufactured ones for $300 on rockauto.com . Choose by your vin number

Or
ACDELCO Part # 36P1032
{#19319558} Reman; Professional||Remanufactured w/o Reservoir
From VIN # A030261
It's called a power steering pump because it's the same pump for both abc and ps
You should either find another mechanic or just see what his labor charge is if you supply the abc pump. Do not pay $2400 for an abc pump

Thank you!!! Was about to put the 3k on a credit card, then sell the car when fixed lol.
Anyway he said the power steering should go out soon then.
Kinda confused... I know you guys said the pump is the same, but if it's the pump that is for the suspension and making the ABC light come on, why does that have anything to do with the power steering?
It's two different pumps right? Same type.
Every part I checked online, Vin starts with A...
If the last digits are below the cutoff get the a1 cardone pump
Example for VIN Number: WDBPJ75J12A030447
The digits you should be looking at are the A030447, at the end of the vin
Rockauto.com has the best price
It's the same one pump for both abc and power steering , the one pump it handles both functions. It has hoses going to both the abc and ps systems. But It's very common for it to still steer fine but lose abc pressures

Probably going to get the Cardone one if it doesn't matter.

don't forget to clean out that reed valve under the windshield so you don't have any more water under your dash during rains or car washes

Btw he originally told me $2400 for the part, then when I got there to pick the car back up he said he can do it for $1500 lol. Anyway ordering pump now. Appreciate it guys!
