Over sizes tires
well it seems what my tire guy said is true, using a wider lower profile tire then stock on these cars will cause TC issues and transmission shifting because of it. I thought whatever it can't be that bad plus they look so cool on there. Uummm, let me tell you they have been nothing but problems, I thought the wider tire would give me better grip which I badly need but this car breaks lose so easily. It has cause the TC, ESP and ABS to act up and be way overly touchy. Now it seems it is causing transmission shirting issues because of it I punch it and TC triggers just a lil and the transmission doesn't want to kick down like it used to. It usually would kick down 2 gears but now it only wants to kick down 1 gear.
Sooo has anyone else done this and have this problem or similar issue(s).
Stock rear is 265/40/18.. I put on 275/35/18.
I did the adaptive driving transmission reset and it didn't help just in case someone suggest to do it.
Obviously I will be going back to stock size this weekend.
The logic here is that if the difference is to much the car thinks the rears are slipping
here is a calculator: http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoTireMath.do
Compare your front and rear circumference and see how much they differ
In fact the sizes you should be using on an 18 inch wheel are 245/45/18 front and 275/40/18 in the rear. This is even larger that what you currently have and it's the factory Amg size so it will work fine . I have them on my CL

With the front being 245/45/18 and rear being 275/35/18 it is giving me a 3.46% circumference difference and that is the issue. It can only be a max of 3% preferably less or you will have problems.
In a weird way I am glad cause I thought I was having some big problems but now it all makes sense and because of the difference it is throwing the monitoring systems and electronics off the TC, ESP, BAS, and the transmission down shifting because of it adapting to the to small profile.
Thanks guys much appreciated.
Glad I found it because I am looking for tires for my 03 CL500. It has the AMG package (chrome 18s) and currently has Bridgestone Potenzas I hate. The ride is super rough. These things feel like riding on hexagons when cold. 265/40/18 & 245/45/18.
Someone on CL has Michelin Pilot Sports off a 500SL with only 8k on them for $400. The issue is they are 285/35 ZR18 & 255/40 ZR18. These are rated much higher for road noise and ride quality on TireRack.
The rims are 9.5" and 9" so I think they can handle the tires, I am at 0.56 (closer than what is on now) in size difference but I am wondering iF the 35s in the back will make the ride worse although its a better tire.

Rides SOOO much better! Thanks for the recommendation!
The only thing I have them to directly compare to are the DW's, and like I said before, the BFG's are a HUGE improvement over the Continentals.
I drove a 2015 Stingray with Michelin PSS's and I really think the BFG's have better launch traction. Once the PSS's start to spin they just cant grab again until you let them. The 'vette only had 460HP, so slow compared to my CL, LOL.
