Drove my 2000 CL500 today went to pull in a space and when I got out I noticed hydraulic fluid leading to my car . When I looked it was pouring out by my left front wheel.
Can anyone tell me what might have gone wrong?
Checked ABC reservoir and almost empty, almost all gone.
What is located on drivers side under reservoir that would leak like that?
If you start it up it pours out?

One of the hoses probably burst . Common failure item my Independent mechanic charged me $400 when it happened to me

DO NOT drive it , you will ruin The pump. Buy some pentosin and fill it if you need to move it into a parking spot or on to the tow truck

The valve block is behind the left foglight area, so there's about 6 hoses going to and from it. You have to inspect and see what failed and replace/have it repaired by a hydraulic shop.

 

I can almost guarantee that it is one of the high pressure hoses. There are two high pressure hoses coming from the pump, one is the hose to nowhere it basically comes off the pump goes under the front of the engine and does a horseshoe just under the crankshaft pulley and goes for about 18" and ends, it just caps off.
The other high pressure hose is a much bigger deal cause the engine mount has to be unbolted on that side and the engine lifted on that side for the hose to be removed and replaced.
I had both done the hose to nowhere twice and the other hose once. The hose which requires the motor mount to be removed is very pricey.
Also it is usually an indicator that your accumulators are bad or going bad.
If so it needs to be replaced or the hose will burst again which is what happened to me.
There are 4 accumulators but usually it is just the 2 self leveling accumulators.
One in front of the left front tire, the tire has to be removed and the inside fender splash guard removed to get to it.
The other is in the back just above the right side muffler (maybe left) but you can get to it very easily.
They are black spheres you can't miss them once you see it, they are nitrogen filled sphere that act as a type of shock for the hydraulic abc system, basically they hold the fluid and act as a shock for the pressure spikes in the system as you go over rough roads, pot holds, to fast over speed bump, etc..and it helps with the active leveling as the car corners and such and is pivotal for the smooth Mercedes ride.
If your ride is feeling a bit rough and your tires are not really bad then it is definitely an accumulator issues, or strut but as far as total ride feel and control it is the accumulators.

If it's the front left, it could be an accumulator or possibly the valve block. Could also be the pump, although for your sake, I hope it's not. Hopefully it's "just" a hose, but some of those hoses can be stupid expensive. I've had some of mine remanufactured by a local company that makes them for hydraulic equipment on everything from tractors to folklifts, etc .... Much cheaper, and every bit as good (if not better than) OEM. Good luck!
