Just buy two complete coil packs at that point. The effort needed to open them up and replace all of the coils isn't worth the small savings, IMO.

really ?

as far as now I can get all 24 coils and chips for 900$
a rebuild both sides is 1400$
a non oem coil pack 2000$ both sides
a Oem coil pack 3000$ both sides

am I right ?

what is so difficult al soldering those coils ?

+ I forgot to mention
I am sure that the repair kit coils last longer then those OEM coils

There's only one coil pack, there's no option for "non-oem".

I paid around $950 for a new coil from benz. There are deals out there. I also though the last time I looked, the repair coils were almost $50 each, so replacing 24 would be over $1k. Aside from that, opening the packs and hoping to not damage anything, re-using the old circuit boards, housings, etc. Seems like a strange place to save money for me.

The new ones are very reliable, do you have any evidence of the "repaired" ones being more durable than the updated 680/780 part # ones? I can't see that being possible.

yep you'r right about the updated one
also, if you paid 950, I must be able to get them for less if OEM, as MB is next door and no taxes as to the USA

thx !

It was employee cost for me, but they are available online for similar amounts. I paid sales tax and such, but I got a 1 yr warranty through work and got it handed to me, we keep them in stock.

I actually have to buy another one, my left side is now dying out, I'll see what the going rate is.

Rock auto shows the Airtex ones for $950 but they are all built by Temic, there's no other manufacturer, they just don't have the MB star on them.

I found a local guy on ebay that has a "new" one for $925, might be worth going to look at, as I need a left side.
