Not gonna happen.

Maybe if you drop the subframe and fight taking them out from the bottom, but honestly it's not that much more work to just remove the entire engine, and once it's out the turbos come off pretty simply.

Yes, I removed my turbos with the engine in place.

I dropped the front subframe (4 bolts plus a couple of little tricks). Got lots of pictures.

Why do you want to remove them?

Nick

See this thread:

https://mbworld.org/forums/sl55-amg-...sl-models.html

These are all the things you don't have to touch if you don't drop the engine:
  • Fan
  • Bulkhead
  • Wiring
  • Engine Cooling
  • Heating
  • Air con
  • Oil cooling
  • Charge cooling
  • Transmission cooling
  • Alternator cooling
  • ABC
  • Exhaust
  • Propshaft
  • Transmission
  • Engine
Yes, it's more difficult removing the turbos in place, so you have to weight up the benefits.

thx !

I have a tiny oil leak in that area right turbo
Just in case I would find the leak coming from the turbo gaskets and not something easy

Oil leaks from the turbos are rare, it's usually coolant leaks - the O-rings seals are much less robust than gaskets / flanges.

Any followup on this? I'm resealing my turbos and was curious to look for any issue you may have run across.
Thanks,
Jorge
