So, here's the deal: We ordered a black CL600 with black leather and dark walnut trim. It's not supposed to arrive until late March or April. Our dealer contacted us and said that he had an obsidian black CL600 with black leather and black ash trim, which is available now. Both have the AMG package and the Tech package.

We think we know what we're going to do, but what do you guys think?

THe only difference is the wood color? or is the obsidian Black a different black than the regular black (is it a touch bluer?)

Thats so insignificant.......... but - if u are set on the darker black, its only a 2 month wait...... granted i know for us benzophiles - thats 2 years.

I belileve obsidian is a lighter black because it's got the metallic flakes.

I voted darth vader. I'm a sucker for all black.

The Obsidian is metallic; highlights will be brighter in the sun, for example. But there's not really a hue to it.

Attached are pics of the interior options.

Black, when cleaned and detailed is a killer color, but you may find the Obsidian has advantages for you with the Toronto weather. The metallic nature of Obsidian doesn't show the dirt as easily and swirl marks are also much less apparent. If you can live with the black ash, which looks better in person than the pictures, I would take the Obsidian CL600.

( Maybe as an aside, you can see if they can ship your ordered CL600 WITH AMG SPORT PACKAGE to Speed Thrills and take him out of his jealousy )

You got the 600, which means you want something more refined, elegant, yacht-like, looks like it came out of a factory in Crewe and belongs to a family with bluer blood than most. Obviously dark ash wouldn't do that.

I might have gotten it all wrong but it's just my 2 cents.

How long will you have to wait until you get the ordered one???

I'm the type of person who can't wait, so if I were you, I'd take the obsidian black!!!

Cl 600
Either way you got a bad a** ride, the real Darth Vader is what I was trying to make the CL I customized look like. Thats why I painted the grill the same color (black) of the car and smoked the chrome accents in the grill. When you look at the car from the front you can see the smoked chrome shine but besides that it looks like two huge eyes (headlights) looking back at you. The headlights look like they've got a mean expression. But like I said, you're getting a CL 600, which is a very bad luxury coupe.

Translating into normal English, does "bad" mean "good"?

I'm not sure "goodass" is normal English.

Personally, I much prefer the Obsidion Black to flat black (conjures up Model T thoughts). It looks better, and more interesting in my opinion. Also, the black ash interior looks amazing, that and the poplar are my favorites. The option your dealer offered you appeals to me more in both respects.
