My loud speaker part # 221 820 5202 is busted! ![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
Getting the part from the dealer will cost $950!
Wondering if anyone has had good success with building out a custom woofer system in the truck of a CL550.
After speaking with an audio shop they say that my sub is a special thin speaker designed specifically for my car and no aftermarket woofer can fit in there and I would need to build out some housing for it. He said he would charge me around $1500 for labor and parts.
Though picking up the OEM speaker at $950 with a couple 100 for labor would still be cheaper than what this guy quoted me, I wanted to see if anyone has had success and done it cost effectively. Help!

Ohh even better. That would be my ideal situation. How did you find the OEM sub? I've been looking everywhere and the only place I can find it is at the dealer at full price

Okay he still has it, one left! He said $500 shipped.....I asked him why did he charge me $500 with labor. He said it was easy for the CL since I have the folding rear seats and usually hardly any mercedes have folding seats! let me know! I can probably tell him to have it out today!
Edit: Shouldn't cost more than $100-$150 to replace it as a shop that knows what they doing!

Awesome. How can we make this happen? Does your buddy have a website or something? I know I should trust people on this forum but just a little nervous cuz I'm new :/
Also, where exactly is the woofer? NJ? I ask because I'm actually coming out to NYC in a couple days...I could just pick it up if it's close to the city.

He doesn't have a website just my installer who does work on my car...You shouldn't be nervous, I sell lots of stuff on here and no bad experiences. I am close to NYC BUT I won't be here after Thursday..I have to go to a wedding (indian wedding) so it is like a 5 day ordeal!
