Bluetooth Streaming Audio/Music
Hi - I have recently bought a 2008 CL500 and although it has every option on it known to man, I am struggling to stream music via my phone.
It has the Mercedes Bluetooth cradle in the glove box, whilst it allows telephone calls to be made, it doesn't seem to allow audio files to be played.
My car has the Harman Kardon upgrade.
The previous owner had a Bluetooth adaptor fitted into the glovebox via and RCA (yellow, white, red cable) however the music only seems to be playing from the passenger door speaker ie in mono only.
Any advice and workarounds would be really appreciated.
Thanks
David

Hi, I have the same car. The Mercedes Bluetooth cradle only does the phone. There was no option to bluetooth music to this year of car.
When buying new from the factory the only option was to order the Mercedes iPod connection in the passenger side glove box. Back then you would have physically plugged the iPod in to your car. I believe you can (at great expense) source these iPod kits retrospectively, and then attach a bluetooth receiver to the iPod cable.
The Harmon Kardon upgrade is basically a bigger amp and more speakers, no added functionality.
I have never tried using the RCA plugs.

Here ya go!
Purchased one in 2018 and it works flawlessly! Just plug it into the ipod connection in your glovebox, turn on Aux in your Comand system (owners manual) and pair your phone.
Enjoy,
Mike

The device has worked well.
Overall a good product with great sound quality. The only disadvantage is that it’s not operable using any of the existing car controls other than volume. Titles don’t display.
Accideny purchased two and have one extra that I can sell/ship. DM me for details if interested.

I just got a 128GB USB Pen drive and connected it up to the port in the glove compartment using the MMI cable - this way the phone can connect to the car Bluetooth for calls.
You have to ensure that the Pen drive is either less or equal to 32GB or you partition it in segments of less than 32GB like I did. Each partition will show up as a separate drive on the Command system.
