Finally, my memorial weekend drag racing thread
Anyway, rant over, here we go.....I've been drag racing most of my adult life. Always with my street car/daily driver so running a street vehicle at the track is not new to me. To say the CL surprised a lot of people at the track would be an understatement. I don't recall EVER seeing a Mercedes at my local track, the only dragstrip in Alaska. Only change from my DD street 90 octane + Torco setup was drag radials.
First pass Saturday morning ever in this car for me was an 11.11@123mph. Managed to get a best run of 11.04@124 on Monday. I think I would have gotten a 10 second time slip, but it was in a bracket race and I had a choice, either lift and win that round or stay in it, break out, and possibly get a 10 second slip. I lifted and took the win.
The car is a lot different to launch than my Lightning with a 2.6L Kenne Bell supercharger and slicks so it took some getting used to. I went out in the first round of eliminations on Saturday.

By Sunday was getting the hang of launching the car so cut a .04 light the first round, a .03 in the second, but red lit by a -.03 in the third for a second place finish. For those who know what it is like to bracket race, I had dialed an 11.10, and was up against a car with a 16.10 dial in the final. 5 seconds is a long time to wait to leave.

Monday I was in a small class, only 3 cars. First guy ran way off his dial so I easily won (the pass that would have possibly been a 10 if I stayed in it) but I wanted a first place trophy so I played the bracket racing game and lifted. Second round against a SRT8 Challenger. Something happened when he launched ( driver error?) and his car took off like a slug. Passed him before the 1/8 mile so I checked up early to be sure I wouldn't break out and took first place.
All in all, a good first weekend of racing. Anyway, here are a couple vids. First, the best ET I ran the first weekend out. 90 octane gas + Torco, through the air filters. Only weight reduction was removing the spare & tool kit from the trunk, as well as the floormats since they kept flopping back on launches:

Time slip:

So here is another vid with some anonymous spectator commentary. My wife was taking the video and the run was my second best for the weekend. NWS! Language!

The goal is for the CL to be faster than my Lightning I sold to buy it. Best pass in the L was10.85@126 on C16. Was going to post that vid but apparently it didn't upload.

Did I mention I £r €ak!^£ hate computers.........

I'll add go pro vid later, doing this from my iPad and that is on my laptop....

July 4th weekend I'll be on VP 109 and the tune for it. If there is no ash or silt in the air like we had Memorial weekend I'll try out my 3" CAI which is just a straight shot to the turbos from the core support. Should run well in the 10's every run even though the DA is normally higher in July.

I guess my Glory pass with the CAI will have to wait for Labor Day, but I can hardly wait to see what it runs on 109 after and 11.04 on 90 octane.
Anyone want to guess my ET & MPH on the canned 109 tune? Closest guess wins internet credit!
