Another 305/30/19 cl55

Hey guys,

First things first i would like to thank Racehorse for helping make this things happen.

Bought a bbs amg 19 9.5 then sent them to be widened ... My goal was to strech them to 10.5 but somehow it went up to 11 wheel wide.

Nice. Looks awesome.

I just put 285's on my car mounted on 10" wheels with a 55 offset and they barely clear the fender lip at full stuff. I really don't know how you guys are getting the 305's on there without rubbing. Im going to have to measure again but I don't think I have that much clearance on the inside.

Gooseyman,
Your car really looks nice, If I were to see those wheels off the car I wouldn't expect it to look as good as it does, however it looks very crisp and clean especially with a little extra meat in the rear. I'm glad I could help. I think you would have a lot of rubbing if you drove around with the car that low, but it looks nice parked for the pics.

The tires have to be flush with the outside of the car, when the suspension is lifted it looks as if the tire sticks out when the suspension squats it just barely tucks in. It is a tight fit, but when you keep asking for more and more power it only helps in getting the power to the ground. See the pics below, both pics are of standard ride height, the car does not have lowering links or a lowering module. From the side it looks flush, from the rear, you can see how the tire is just slightly inside up top.

RaceHorse, how much did you widen your wheels and what spacer are you running? I'll get a pic of mine with the 285's tucked so you can see how close they are. I'm pretty sure a 295 would rub at full stuff with my current 19x10 ET55 wheels. Maybe widening them would let me get more under there.

I have 15mm spacers (requiring 60MM lugs). I added 1" to the inside of the stock wheels. The spacer brings it out making it roughly 1/2" in and 1/2" out. I never measured it to see if there was significant growth with the welds but it should be very close to 10.5" wide. From 0-120MPH the wider wheels provide so much more traction than stock, but beyond that I notice the wider track wants to drift around more than stock or narrower tires.

Maybe try to bring them out with a 10MM spacer before widening to see what it looks like.

hey guys thanks for your kind words.

@racehorse ... i usually drive the car lowered and i have no issues in rubbing , its only cause we have really good roads and unless in the middle of the highway there is a bump at high speed tire might rub.

overall experience, for me personally its just a matter of doing something different and to experiment if its better or not. i dont have enough experience so far but i think going this road isnt the best solution and i believe if you like performance more than looks then dont go down this road....

The 600's wheel well must narrower than the 55/65. When I put 305s on mine it hit the strut and stuck out almost 2 inches wider than the fender.

Gooseyman, what's the backspace that the wheel widener used, and what are the length of the lugs? I've an 06 CL55 AMG with stock 19x9.5 wheels, and lowering links.

Hi principle , unfortunetly i dont have the exact numbers as i didnt measure any i just asked them to widen the wheel and went with friends recommendations and i also believe that the cl55 have more room than any other w215 .

Interm of backspace i would say i have almost 6 to 7mm space.

Racehorse wojld be the best person to talk about these numbers.
