The CLA is BLOWING UP! Sales-Wise, that Is.
Mercedes has such a hit on its hands that the company is once again boosting production of its newest entry-level sedan: the CLA.
According to Automotive News, the CLA has outsold every forecast Mercedes had predicted with the new car. The supply just isn't meeting the actual demand. Speaking to AN, Daimler boss Dieter Zetsche was quoted in saying they could have sold “twice as many vehicles, easily.”

Entry Level Means Entry Quality
I looked a the CLA for about 30 seconds. I would not buy one because you can only get a 4 banger in it. That is a long ways from my 6.2L AMG pumping out over 500 horses. When MB drops a v8 in one then I might look at it again.
Personally looking forward to getting the new S65 when it comes out. I need power or you just get run over here in the big city.

Honestly the cars amazing. It sounds beautiful and aggressive, it's damn fast (Talking about the 45 AMG. It can do 0-60 in 4.2 seconds. For a 4 banger that's just shocking), styling is stunning, and it's gas mileage is amazing.
My only issue with the CLA is actually with my CLA. I ended up getting a huge lemon, and since there was no lemon laws in Canada I'm basically screwed. Other then my CLA, I honestly think that MB hit the mark with this car.

I think it's a great looking car; love it. Not driven or been in one, and have only seen a few around the way..........but yeah, looks great.......I have heard the build quality isn't all there and that it's a bit cheap feeling on the inside.....not to mention it isn't as brute as it's big brothers

It's a nice car. I live in Los Angeles (metro) and commute (If you can call a 17 mile drive a commute ;-0) to Pasadena and I see them with regularity. The only thing about it that I don't like is that it's driven up the price on the c-class..... $40k for a C class now. srly?
From my perspective, Mercedes opted to make more money. Surprise!!
They chose between a) developing a new bottom end care thus driving up the price or the existing lines and b) using the existing bottom line car designation for the new model. i.e. , re-doing the c-class.
Yes, I know the C-class is going up in lux trim but there was still the choice.

Its actually an A-Class car which is why they have cut back in some of the quality of the build. It was essentially to keep the price point low.
I have owned my CLA45 AMG Edition1 now for 4 months and I really cant say enough great things about it. It drives very well, lots of power when you want it and incredible fuel economy when you want that. Mine is fully loaded so I have all the bells and whistles including the Recaro Seats and all the driver assists.
I agree its no V8 but that was not their intention with this car. I do not think its fair to compare the big V8s to this 2.0L, 4 cylinder engine. However, we should celebrate that they have achieved 355hp out of a 2.0L. It does not have the growl of the V8s either but with the $450 factory exhaust upgrade it barks, snaps crackles and pops. Especially when shifting gears at high rpm. Its a very comfortable ride for what it is and being a Canadian and enjoying abusive winters I will be happy when the 4matic kicks in.
There are some issues with the 7 speed Dual clutch being jerky at times and there is some turbo lag when trying to achieve the 26.1 psi but other than that, its a great car overall. I likely should point out I am coming from a 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 so any mercedes is a huge upgrade for me.
I don't think this is hype, there is a huge backlog of orders. I waited 7 months for mine to come in. If you walk in now to purchase a custom order I am hearing they are about 9month to a year out.

I recently drove one just to see what it was like and quite frankly I was pretty impressed. The body style is very similar to the new S-Class.
