2019 A220 (V177) Dashcam Feature - Do you have it?
This A220 owner in California has a dashcam feature, shown here:
(Go to 11:50 in the video.)
My car does not have the dashcam app, and now that I've gone through all the menus, I figured out why:
All other features are activated. I'm going to call Mercedes Me and see what the deal is.
For reference I have Premium, Multimedia, Driver Assistance, and Parking Assistance packages. I do not have AMG Line package.
Do you have dashcam? If so, do you have different packages?

I don't have my car the check but I'm pretty sure I don't have it. I've gone through all the menus a few times and don't recall seeing this. I have Premium and Multimedia. Wonder if it's part of the AMG line or maybe varies per state (I'm in WA state.)

I have most all of the options including AMG, multimedia, premium, driver assistance, burmester sound, night package, exterior lighting, etc. I have no dashcam app. Also my MBUX was just updated today due to a display problem. No idea how to add that dashcam app. Love to figure it out.

I called Mercedes Me Connect support from the car and they couldn't find any information about it. They suggested calling customer service, which is only open Monday - Friday, so I'll do that next.

Interesting as I was showing the car to a neighbor who asked about it and I mentioned the fact that it is already set up for a dash cam but doesn't appear to have one, now I'm going to check.
Given the over the air updates, etc., isn't this just mostly a programming change?

Anybody taking in their A220 for service, note that there is a recall for a brake pedal issue. I just had mine in and they didn't bother to check on the recalls.
Then I got the recall notice. To confirm check here: https://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/recall

That site says my car has no current recalls. I suppose it may be limited to builds of a certain timeframe. My car is in service so will see if they find anything.

Here is mine:
Your vehicle has an active safety recall. Scroll down to see exact details and important next steps.
Daimler AG, the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain Model Year (MY) 2019 A-Class vehicles (177 platform), the welding of the brake pedal plate to the brake pedal lever might not have been performed according to current production specifications. In this case, applying pressure on the left side of the pedal plate might lead to a tilting of the pedal plate (yaw). As a result, the operation of the brake pedal would be impaired, increasing the risk of a crash
An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will check the welding of the brake pedal on the affected vehicles and replace the brake pedal if necessary.

So dashcam update: I called MB Customer Service: https://mercedes-benz.custhelp.com/app/call
The person I talked to was convinced the dashcam is an "aftermarket" feature that has to be installed by dealers. I explained that the hardware and software appear to be in the car already, but she wouldn't budge. Said I needed to talk to the dealership about it. I tried asking the same question via the form on the customer service website, so we'll see if I get a response back from that. I'm going to call in again tomorrow to see if I get a different answer. I think the car is still so new that they don't know much about it.

The recall campaign states 1,051 vehicles affected.

I have an amazing update to share! I just received this email:
I'm going to see if this feature truly works after I get home from work.

I went to the Terms of Use page stated in the email (https://me.secure.mercedes-benz.com/...seragreements/), but it just appears to be the same Mercedes me Connect service registration that I did when I first got the car. There's no specific dashcam feature in the list of services. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens eh.

Same here. I found in the settings under System -> License Activation, there's a Dashcam feature. It shows as Deactivated. I don't see a way to activate it. Perhaps there's a delay before the update is recognized by the car.

No email, but I followed the same steps, not available either. I want to say, what I remember is you having to put in some external USB in to activate the function in order to record. Someone should give it a try to see.

I got the same, updated my settings yesterday and will check in a few minutes to see if it is there. Don't think it will be, but who knows.
So...same as everyone else, it is deactivated.

Mercedes Me Connect Email Response Regarding Dashcam
I recently purchased my A220 in California and also received the email regarding the Dashcam. I reached out to Mercedes Me Connect and received the attached email. It looks like the dashcam is not supported in the USA.

More info - available in the Russian market only for now, it seems:

It appears that in the 2021 GLA 250 DOG there is: 21U Dashcam - $200.
No other information - but maybe there will be a way for dealers to activate it for older MBUX cars too, assuming the option is purely a software lock.
