CLE 53
Will be interested in how it compares to the 53. The 53 has more power than I will ever need on the street and it looks nice. So far, from the leaks, the physical body of the car seems to be very similar. Not sure I would consider a CLE 63 for 120-140k (assuming its this expensive) when a GT 55 could be had at similar price, CPO'd not new ofc. My CLE 53 was just under 86K, the 63 will have to be priced very well for me to consider making the jump in the future.

That being said, I love how the CLE AMG looks and welcome a CLE 63 to the line-up. I'm nearing a full yr of ownership and I am happy I chose this over an M4.

I’m pretty much in the same boat. My CLE 53 replaced a BMW M850 that someone totaled for me, I also chose the CLE over the M4 knowing it wasn’t as fast but like you the looks won out. Also, like you, I have found the power more than adequate. I haven’t ruled out a 63 but by then I’ll probably be ready for something different.

This is our exact "use case" scenario as well.

BMW went on the ugly wagon although I do love me some BMW juju, the CLE's looks won us over. Although I have always gone for the most power you can stuff in a car, this time either I grew up or had a lapse of reasoning and am happy with the CLE's power. But that 63 idea tho......got me stirring again. LOL

Latest news, although it's about the Mythos variant.
Hope the regular CLE63 gets the "goods" from that new FPC V8.

New info on the AMG V8. Supposedly coming at the end of the year, but in SUVs first. I'm guessing GLE 63 and/or GLS 63, or the G63. Also looks like it's going into high margin models, so GT63 likely and the CLE 63 Mythos, but puts doubt on a regular CLE 63. I've long predicted that it will go into low volume, high margin models to manage the fleet average.

You’re wrong. it’s not the Mythos, there will be a “regular” CLE63 with the new FPC V8.

i’m hoping they shove this in the W213 and give us a proper E63s again.

Gotta say it looks heavy going around the Nordschleife and doesn't sound like much, although the latter is I guess the times we live in. But the tires are clearly not very happy. I was underwhelmed watching the video to be honest.

Which is interesting because AMG themselves promised more sound in the newer MBs and more emotions/excitement?

Related or not related it does seem the GLC 53 sounds louder due to these (louder changes) compared to other 53 models such as the CLE 53 so it is apparently indeed louder and not just empty promises, AMG 63 models should be louder than before, no?

Like the GT63, this car will have AMG Real Performance Sound, so it will be louder inside for sure. I didn't care much for it in the GT63 as it sounded very raspy inside. Not particularly pleasant, but that's still with the cross plane V8. The GT Black Series also has lots of sound pumped into the interior with the flat plane crank and on the outside it sounds about like this CLE63, so I'm not surprised at all. This is pretty much what I predicted with the new flat plane V8. The BS was emotional and exciting to drive while sitting in it, but kinda boring to watch and hear it go past. We'll see. I'm curious how the shifting will be. The flat plane crank is more rev happy. What I liked about the BS was that the downshifts were crips and snappy as the rev matches were quicker than with the cross plane V8. That's one thing I miss in my C63. The naturally aspirated high revving V8 in my previous RS5 was also very rev happy and had the same snappy downshifts as a result. The AMG cross plane V8 isn't as rev happy, so even the DCT in the GT R and such isn't as crisp. The BS was the first GT I truly enjoyed driving.

All makes sense just that I was curious when MB say more V8s and what caught my attention is they mentioned more sound so I thought they had some method to produce more actual sound outside (not the speakers or outside speakers) but actual exhaust noise while meeting regulations.

The noise regulations are tricky. 10 years ago the decibel limit for car exhausts in Europe was 95 dB. Now it's 68 dB. That's 6 times quieter. However, higher-powered/performance cars are allowed marginal more between 1 to 9 extra decibels, but it depends on the weight and power to mass ratio. Heavier vehicles are allowed a higher limit, which may explain why the GLC 53 can be louder than the CLE 53. Also, light trucks and passengers cars are subject to different rules as well.

Perfect, that is the explanation I was looking for, no wonder.
