Question W208 with Shift boot

I did a search on shift boot under the clk55 and w208 forums and could not find somebody who has tried. Anybody tried and willing to post pics? www.amgkit.com has something for a w208, but made for manual transmission.

thanks, -D

You can't seriously think about buying anything from AMGKIT.com when their prices are even more than the dealer for most stuff!!

Was not considering buying from them . Just an example of what i found. Wondering if it looked like a shift boot fit the interior style of a w208.

Go figure, thats perhaps the best parts supplier i've seen to date and it's also the most expensive.

I checked out the other MB forum and they mentioned MMGRAD had done it. If the inside looks as clean as the outside I'd want to check it out.

MMGRAD, how 'bout a pic?

mmgrad,

Any chance you can repost a photo. I'm interested in trying this? Where did you get the part? What's involved?

99CLK320,
I made a boot out of black garment leather so it was pliable when moving the lever for and aft, had a friend sew it. cut four triangular pieces, figure in the offset of the shift lever to the right. pry the rectangular piece from the console, use Barge contact cement to glue the leather boot to the underside of the rectangular piece and press everything back in place. worked for me.

I installed a momo knob and boot in a similar fashion - removed the plastic surround and worked the boot into the crevice. The tight fit keeps it in place with no problems. The sport/winter switch is hidden underneath the boot, but that's not a problem since I rarely use it.

Got it from this place: http://www.ltbmotorsports.com/

I went with the short (6") boot and plain knob - fits perfect. I'll try to take a pic this afternoon.

Nice setup, I may do the same. Did you put the plastic ring back on or no? Let see a pic.

I did not put the plastic cover back on - because of the thickness of the leather, it would not fit. But with the overhang of the boot, and the fact the wood trim that was under the ring cleaned up nicely, I don't think its too noticable. The best part is that it can be easily returned to stock if need be.

I've actually been asked a number of times if its a stick, instead of automatic, due to the look (even though there is obviously not a clutch pedal?!?)......

Here's some pics, I hope they help.

Yes. Mine is hidden as well but as the other gentleman said, I never use mine either. I have a bit less leather on mine.
