tire life

i just wanted to know:
1)what different brands of tires you guys all have on your rides?
2)how many miles do you get out of them?
3)do you rotate them? if you have unidirectionals, do you have them swapped from side to side?

I don't rotate the original Pilot-sport uni-directionals; I am changing to Potenza RE730.

15,000 miles isn't bad. My factory tires only made it to 10,000 miles. These ain't all-season tires on these cars.

I have 15,000+ miles on my Michelin stocks; so far so good. Lots of thread left -- granted I don't drive the CLK hard.

I tried Yokohama Paradas on a set of 18" Mono V's for my SLK, those lasted about 25k mi, unidirectional, non-staggered.

Luke from tirerack says: "The Michelin Pilot Sport A/S would be the best tire for you if you want that much mileage."

PS: The Michelin Pilot Sport A/S have a treadwear rating of 400.

Michelin Pilot Sport rating is only 220!

I've got Michelin Pilot Sports on mine right now and they are absolutely one of the best tires around. Very solid grip on turns! I've only used these tires about 2k miles on them. But will be changing them soon to the SO-3's. I think the SO-3's if you look at the price from tirerack are the best bang for the buck compared to Pirelli Rosso's, Yoko AVS, Pilot Sport etc...

Having dealt with 911's for the past twenty seven years, (Avg 6-8000 miles for rears=ratio of 3/1 rears to fronts...) I find that getting 9,000 miles on my rear MXX3's to be very acceptable durability. The only thing that pisses me off is having to toss perfectly good fronts as this tire has been discontinued. Imho, the MXX3's were great tires. I plan to go to SO3's or Pilot sports next. I hear that The BFG G- Force T/A's are hot, though quite pricey... Anyone know anything definitive about these?

im going to have to agree. my s-03s are the best tires i've had so far. they have only been on for 5k miles or so, but they are sticky as hell! id recommend those tires to everyone here on this forum also. check your alignment after installing them to make sure you get the most!

i got them in san diego. i was down in san diego and had, not one, but two flats on the rears. i go to discount tire and they dont have any of my pirelli super sport 7000s. the only size they had that matched mine were the s-03s. i really didnt want them, but now i cant stop feeling that it was a blessing in disguise!

size of the rears: 255/35 18inch
