Installing Wood Steering Wheel?

Does anyone know how or can explain how to do the install.

Is this a DIY or should I take it to the STEALERSHIP?

Its definitely a DIY. There are a couple torx screws in the back to get the airbag off, and one big bolt holding down the wheel. It's recommended you disconnect your battery just in case, but it is not required. Also, do not turn the key if the airbag is disconnected or you risk setting off the SRS light.

Remove the torx and then disconnect the air bag connector, then remove the airbag. The large bolt is sometimes a bear to break loose. I have used a breaker bar on the socket and have had someone else hold the wheel so not to jam the ignition lock. All in all pretty easy.

Hmmm... I was thinking about that, but I thought it'd be much more difficult.

What about the steering wheel controls? Do those pop-off too from the old wheel and into the new one, or do I have to worry about some crazy wiring harness to plug those in?

Steering wheel controls are built into the airbag unit.

Do I need any special tool to get that big bolt off?

I've seen a few on ebay, but I don't know if they're any good... Jerry @ formymercedes carries some too, but he doesn't have prices listed.

Thanks guys for the help. I originally made an appointment at the stealership

To have it installed, they said it would take 1.5 to 2 hrs. for the install. What

a joke. It took me 15 min. to do it myself. Smalldog(thanks for the help) will post pics soon.
