Unhappy HOW BIG AN idiot AM I??? help..

First of all, I wanna thank everyone in this forum. You guys have helped me a lot with my 2000 clk 430. Thanks.

Now, on to more important things... On Tuesday i placed a new MAF sensor in my car and no more check engine light. Thanks to everyone in this forum for helping all of us out with this problem. Car has been running better than ever!!!!

Yesterday i received my TopSider (genious invention). So today i decided to do my first oil change (on this car). Ive done oil changes on my '95 accord, my bros 00 civic and so on. So I dont consider myself car illiterate by any means as i know my way around vehicles. So I, removed my old oil with the TopSider and poured in 6quarts of Mobil1 synthetic 10-30 oil. I also swapped the oil filter out with a new one i got at AutoZone (The one it had on there looks like its of a much better quality (OEM mercedes i think).

I took the car for a test spin and accelerated it and now it does not want to change gears on me. I have it in "D" position and if i accelerate rapidly the car will almost redline and wont change gear unless i let ease off the gas pedal. WTF!?!?!!?

Car indicates i need 1 more quart of oil so i will add that in a couple of hours BUT i dont think that missing 1 qart would cause this. Anybody have any idead how the Oil filters from autozone perform??? I dont get it, am I that dumb that i cant even do a simple oil change.

Please help, thank you in advance.

thats strange. how come you decided to use 30 and not 40? the 30 is not on the approved list of oil by mb but i know a bunch of guys here still use it and have no problems and then theres others here who swear its no good. do a search for oil in the w208 section and you will see a bunch of threads

I use Mobil 1 0W40 fully senthetic. But anyway, after you changed your MAF did you reset the computer by disconnecting the battery? This might help.

Disconnecting the battery is not such great advice. Any half decent mechanic shop can reset the ECU.

You don't need 1 quart of oil you need 2.5 quarts of oil. Proper fill is 8.5 quarts. (7.5min - 9.5 max)

I never reset the ECU. Didnt know i was supposed to? My car ran fine, if not better after i swapped the MAF. Its not until 4 days later that i decided to do the oil change and my car began acting weird. Anywho, after some research i decided to swap out the 10w30 oil and place in some approved 0w40. I hope this will help, and im gonna add 8 quarts even.

One final thing, should i stick with OEM oil filter or are these just fine? The one I got is an STP oil filter by the way.

Thanks guys!!!!
