Solved: DIRECT LINE ipod integration for non-fiber systems!
This unit plugs into the spot where you CD changer goes, and then plugs into your ipod on the other end. Most people i have spoken with have not been too reluctant to give up their CD changer since an ipod holds more than any CD changer in existence. I have not had the time to install mine yet because of school and internship interviews, but will do a full writeup sometime next weekend.
Here's the website i used to buy it. This is the only place i've found it, in your order instructions say that i (king320) referred you. He'll be able to keep track of demand for MB products this way, and might even give us a forum discount at some point. Anyways, here are the links...

You can also buy this dock, i have been told it is compatable with the cable above.

This will work on all stereos that look like this

Just turn it on and slip it into the cassette deck. They play MP3 and WMA formats. They're sold for under $50 on ebay. For about double the money, you could get a Mobiblu DAH220, which has more RAM, will recognize a larger MMC card, has auto on, FM, and does voice recording.

Some of the universal ones might work if the fiber unit has AUX ins. I know there are fiberoptic systems out there, try google.
