Looking to get a CLK430
I searched the forum on what to look for in buying a clk430. There is not alot of info aviable.
I have 20,000 dollars to spend. So I'm that can get me into a 1999 or 2000 maybe a 2001(doubtful).
I noticed that the 2000+ models got the 5 speed tiptronic transmission.
Different side markers
I am assuming the car uses 16 spark plugs from I see just like my 2005 2500 hemi truck.
Besides the obvious stuff with a car like bad title, dents, and scratchs.
What should I look at for problems in a 1999-2001 clk430?

I recommend you get a VMI. A VMI is the vehicle master inquiry. It's a report any Mecedes dealer can print. It lists the vehicle's original equipment, and the service history. The service history will include the dates and mileage of all work performed by any Mercedes Benz dealer.

You are correct on the number of spark plugs.
As to weak points on the 208/CLK-line (in general) are squeaks and rattles (most have probably been fixed or addressed on a used ride), MAF, crankshaft position sensor, harmonic balancer and instrumment clusters going bad. A change was made in the transmission sometime between '01 and '02, but I can't recall all the specifics.
If these have been addressed already, and the car checks out well from a service history and PPI standpoint, get one!
