Confirmation Chirp

Saw this post in another Forum and thought I'd like the chirp when I lock / unlock the car as well.

Is there a way to make the horn chirp when you arm/disarm the alarm or lock/unlock the doors? If I can't see the car it would be nice to have a audible confirmation that I've locked the car.

Confirmation Chirp...or anything

I would like to hear any noise out of my alarm...

It must have a broken horn - probably made by Bosch.

MMM430,

I got the advice below from forum member "damaged" for an SL550. It may also work on yours.
BTW, the chirp doesn't come from the horn....not really sure where it comes from but I'm happy with it.

"Depending on software version of the SDS
and the PSE control unit it is possible to make the alarm chirp.
You need to program the PSE ( locking/alarm control unit) to a
different country code, I have had good luck with "sweden",
Also check coding in EIS and central gateway, It takes a bit of
fishing, but it can be done."

Those instruction are actually meant for a MB tech as they have access to the diagnostic computers.

my 430 chirps once lock / 3 times for the unlock. i had to swap my alarm horn it was broken its under the bumper driver side one bolt one plug. remove the plastic cover 4 screws, its black and round bolted to a steel plate. when i bought it they said they upgraded it to a new one. i think it was like 40-60 dollars real easy to swap out. someone with a parts list can post the number i just took out the original and took it to them

Aside to CHAPPY...you know anything about this RBM Octoberfest event? Supposed to have classics / collectibles, new models, etc. Cant decide if its worth goin to or if its just a big sales event.....

Anyway...
Have a great weekend!
