Cluster Recall.....???
What gives? What are our chances they'll recall these. Its pretty clear isnt it that its a manufacturers defect/crappy product?
I mean there are NUMEROUS shops on freaking eBay making a living by offering to fix the problem for anywhere from $400-$700 bucks!
I dont get it?

The issue is that the cluster back lighting failed and this was considered a safety issue (i.e. could not see speed etc.).
I doubt that anyone really cares that we can not see only factional time and/or temperature.
Nonetheless, given the numberof failures, this is a defect in manufacture that is cosmetic and not related to safety and MB will not owe up to it and/or do anything to make good on it.
If your Mercedes has or had a defective cluster and is not covered under this recall PLEASE file a complaint at www.NHTSA.gov.
Many of you will recall the 'harmonic balancer' problem and only after sufficient pressure and time did they admit and correct the problem with a recall. However, this was only done because of an arguement of it being a safety issue (the damage from debris caused loss of drivability).
The MB quality and customer satisifaction is low and our only recourse is vote with our feet and run (not walk) away from ever buying another of their products.
I must admit a Lexus IS 350 is looking better and better.
When the dealer replaced the sensors, they said they had to replace the entire Cluster (which came from Germany). This is a different looking cluster than the original with a "LIM" light on the speedometer. I wasn't sure why the fuel sensor issue was tied to the cluster, but nevertheless they replaced it since my car was under warranty then.
