killed by a 97 323i possible??
hi guys,
yesterday night i was fooling around with my friend's BMW 323i and we dragged a bit, from standstill he never left my doors but rolling at around 30 km/h he goes infront of me in like a car and half?? his car is totalty stock with a d-cat and a no name back box (ricer style)... i know i have a large audio install and 18' but is that possible??? i just cant belive that... my car needs oil transmission change and an update to the pulley... by the way the car from 0 - 2800 feels like something is holding it back then at over 2800 it goes really fast... any suggestions? i am not looking for engine tuning but is there something wrong?

Is it possible that the MAF is bad and the check engine light is not on? I swear my car used to be a lot faster....it would pin you to the seat and be kinda scary for a split second. Now, the car is fast, but it just doesnt feel like it pulls very hard. Maybe Im just accustomed to the car. Maybe the MAF is bad.
Is there anyway to check the MAF if its not throwing codes?

No way dude! Im going to try this before my drive home. I wonder what would happen if I replaced my MAF and reset the transmission....the star might fly off.... I hope this works.

Haha...I just got home after resetting my ECU. As I pulled out of the parking garage like a always do, with barely a foot on the throttle, the ESP light was flashing all over the place and I knew I had resurrected the monster. I couldnt stop laughing the whole way home....I couldnt believe what a difference the reset made. The throttle response was immediate, no lag anymore. Downshifts happen two gears at a time instead of one. Its only a matter of time though, with city traffic and all, that the transmission will learn the old way of shifting. Pity. For now...

im thinking of trying it too....but is it only recommended for those who have problems currently or have long and constant highway miles? because i dont do many highway miles and it's a pretty good amount of slowing and accelerating ....the only real thing that bothers me is the acceleration delay when i gas kinda hard ...but i thought thats just a product of the electronic throttle and heard that the ECU updates (like from powerchip, speedtuning, etc) can change this for you......does the ECU reset increase throttle response as well?

Ok that was not 10 minutes...but damn....
I think my car woke up, when your at a dead stop and floor it
It's been one year since I had this car and I thought my car felt a little slower and the shifts were off when I floor it here and there, but now....holy moly I think I got thrown back in my seat, now it feels like I bought the 430 I once knew!!! THE BEAST HAS RISEN!
To answer your question deyainrdy4ds, IMO it did, I felt a slight difference in normal driving but taking off...I cannot express how fast my car peeled out...I really did believe my star was gonna fly off!!

Oh it makes wheelspin alright, I could get wheelspin w/o the reset but now I get it WITH traction control ON!!
It doesn't harm the car, just revives it.

But I had mine in just Drive like I always do, in S mode, I mean it's not suppose to make your car super fast, just refreshes your ECU, you know like for example, a PC, you got lots of junk and it starts slowing down so you gotta defrag it to move all the junk out of the way then it starts running smoother and faster? That's what it's like, I know you felt the launch, because I sure as hell did, and the shifts seem to be a WHOLE lot better now, stays in gear for awhile now, doesn't shift into the next gear when your trying to floor it a bit, I dunno I could of done something wrong too, I only felt the launch, did you turn the key once then pressed the gas pedel fully to click then turned the key to the off position without removing it then released the pedal and waited 2-3 minutes jamming to "We Fly High" lol, I dunno if you did that too, but is that how you do it?

Special thanks to you Lowphat, I can't believe I forgot to thank you, if it wasn't for that post we probably wouldn't of known how to restore our car back to itself by ourselves, atleast I wouldnt of!
