grill restoration (DIY)
Our grills come with a gloss finish in the black area which can get weathered over time. The gloss finish is outdated IMO, and all the newer grills have a satin finish.
I decided it refinish my stock grill with black satin to update it a little and get rid of the old look.

I know I am late on this, I just saw it......
IT has about 50 small clips that have to be done one by one. It's not as big of a pain as it sounds.... just use a small flathead screwdriver and they pop right out. they are built in so they do not remove themselves or go flying and they instantly lock back in when you stick the two pieces back together.

For your sake I hope the finish lasts but in my experience, until I completely bead blasted the grill (a 2 hour endeaver) no paint ever lasted more than a month. That said, It's been about 6 months and there is absolutely no signs of chipping or weathering using 2 coats of MB black and 2 coats matte clear coat.

1 year bump.
Grill is still as perfect as the day I painted it, not even chips from rocks or bugs. I'm very surprised it held up this well.
Highly recommended restore job. Getting rid of that polished black look for the satin finish has been one of my best "mods" (if you consider it a mod).
