........The answer is that chip tunning on a normally aspirated engine does NOTHING despite the claims. You may gain a few HP which may think you can notice the difference, but after driving the car a few days, it feels no different. Some have even called this "self learning" by the ECU, but think it is because there is such little difference if any, that you simply get used to it after driving the car a few times. To improve your trottle response without spending too much money consider rear differential adjustment or a pulley it.

I had a wetterauer chip in the past. I experience absolutely no gains, other than the psychological "I think I feel it." The chip only lasted about 3 weeks until my car was only running on 5 of 8 cylinders. Needless to say, my ECU is stock now. I have not seen any good ECU upgrades for naturally aspirated Mercedes engines.

Why not save your time and money? Our underdrive pulleys will give you 13 HP at the wheels for only $499.

Mach430,
It's good to hear true life experiences. The excitment of installing a new mod can fog the true results. That's why I dyno everything I do. We call it SOPE (Seat of Pants Excitment) You think you feel a difference and you want to feel a difference but the only true way to tell is to have tests done before and after.

13HP at the wheels was gained without the A/C. The reason why people mention a gain with the A/C is that the A/C demands a lot of power, and thus with other components being underdriven (we do not underdrive the A/C), it is easier to spin the A/C, and less power is lost in the process.

I completely agree about the importance to dyno every mod. It is the only way to tell if things are working as claimed, or in some cases working properly. I should have a new dyno of my car with our headers in a week or so. I'll keep everyone posted.

My personal favorite butt dyno "power increasing mod": move the driver's seat forward an inch. Works every time, lasts for at least a week

And with the time off due to knee surgery, once you start driving it feels faster than before
