what a ****ty day! ...2 flats & 2 fukd up rims :(

so i caught this horrible pothole on my way to work this morning...i knew as soon as i hit it that i had ta have had a flat....so then i stop at the best possible spot i could find which was dangerous as hell and remember my benz jack is broken so i hafta wait like an hour for frikin benz roadside assistance...as im waiting...about 15 minutes later...a mazda 3 on chrome rims gets a flat from the same hole and stops at this other little shoulder area...about 30 minutes after that...a chrysler 300 on at least 20" chrome catches a flat there too!....no more shuolder room for him even so he went ahead out of sight....like 15 minutes after that...a lady in an s500 rolls by with hazards and stops and checks her tire too...dono if she also got a flat....horribleeee hole and im gunna try reportin it to the city or somethin...i initially had one flat and rashed up rim....and then i caught another nice surprise when i stopped to get gas...my rear passenger side tire was leaking air slowly too and the rim also had rash on it....UGHHh! was so pissed...

but neway..main question here is about the rear tire...it has like a small hole on the sidewall (not exactly visible to the eye)...but when i place my finger over it, u hear that the air stopped leaking out....can this b fixed if its on the sidewall or do i need a new tire....

also ne good solution for fixin the rims....HOPEfully theres no bends in em....but i wudnt b surprised...

and has anyone went thru the process of sending in a pothole complaint to have them reimburse u? my brothers friend has dun it...but she had a police report n everything....

front tire/rim:

the mazda 3 guy:

my lil surprise at the gas station:

my sexy new 16" lol...actually looks kinda hot haha..:

pic of the good unflat side lol...xtra low in the back cuz the box is allll way in the back of the trunk and my rim/tire is back there AND like noo air in the rear passenger tire at that point...:

and once again..this is y i went with 18s in jersey insteada 19s...

Dude, your screwed!! I doubt whether anyone will touch a repair in the sidewall. Insurance might cover it under comp(just guessing) I had a Vette did same damage and insurance paid out. Nice car, hope you didn't screw up susp.

dunno about where you live, but in LA, there was no recourse for the pothole that blew my rims and tires a few years back. they said they were not responsible for" normal road conditions?""??

Dam man that sucks! No way to fix the sidewall safely, just get a new tire.

And for the future, make sure your tires are really aired up to prevent damage. Alot of my friends destroy their rims but they are runnin like 32 psi in the front. With my 19 I run 42 in the front and 38 in the back, and I never bent one. Ive bent a stock amg 17 because I was lazy and left the pressure low.

That's a really shtty road in Jersey. I got 18s on mine and I frequent it a lot to get to the GS parkway. Every now and then there's a new big *** ditch somewhere. I've blown a flat there before, well my gf actually did. Don't depend on that pice of sht jack. Get one of those heavy duty ones from Sears. I spent less than $40 for one and carry it in the trunk all the time. It has saved me out of countless jams. Mostly, NYC potholes. Instead of waiting for AAA or mercedes, i get it all done in 10 minutes. As for the sidewall, you're gonna need a new tire. Good luck man.

By the way, I did the same thing as you, but in Boston. Had 17's on a volvo. This was stock and both rims on one side were cracked and bent almost beyond recognition. Several other cars got messed up too. The staties came with a couple of wreckers. I had more of a shot at getting some form of reimbursement, because of police reports and stuff, but it is an arduous process and I wouldn't expect to see anything for like a year if even. Needless to say, I am still waiting and I filed a claim in 2004.

Damn shame.....

Potholes are the devil!!!! After hitting them on a regular in MD, I was just told by the repairshop that my front lower ball joints are "showing play"...I kinda expected this diagnosis, as I hit at least 3-4 a day....

19's in Cali sucks major tea bags.

One of my friends cracked his rim on a pothole in Oakland, complained to the city and they gave him 45% of what the rim and tire was worth. Better then nothing I guess.

My other friend hit this deeeeep pothole in Alameda, pothole so jacked up that it cracked his rim, blew his tire, cracked a bumper support which pushed the bumper up and cracked the headlight and popped his airbag which cracked his windshield. Next day the road was fixed...Good ol California.

Damn man. Sorry to hear about this. Funny this is, I think I know where that is. Rte 1 and 9...is SO confusing. I hate that road. *LOL* Looks like it was a terrible place to be breaking down. NJ sure has a damn toll booth set up everywhere you go, isn't that money supposed to go to road upkeep?!?!?!

Oh and about that MB jack? I had a flat 2 weeks ago, jacked it up with that thing and the car fell over onto my back wheel. Luckily no damage to the rotor. Was able to get it back up in the air with my sissors jack from my MINIVAN *LOL*. I'm gettin a scissors jack for the MB...gotta do it.
