Question guys.. I recently bought a 2001 CLK 320. It has an aftermarket DVD/stereo player in it. I would rather have the GPS Navigation unit that comes from the factory as an option.

Which unit should I be looking for that is compatible with my vehicle??

Any idea what a stock GPS would cost? I just bought a CLK so I am thinking about putting a computer with GPS in place of the double din radio.

Did you lose any of the features that the factory system came with (wheel controls, volume adjusts with speed, those kind of things)?
Im thinking of putting in a aftermarket GPS but dont want to lose the features.

wheel controls ? i rather have NAV than steering wheel controls..

I have a early CLK, running aftermarket nav.... no steering wheel controls on my steering wheel anyways..

if you go with a after market gps dvd radio the only thing you use is
your wheel controls
but you can do 2 things


1 is you can buy this thing called *pac * and have audio shop install it
its a thing that hooks up to ur wheel controls to use ur factory controls on ur after market radio


2 most radios with nav/ dvd sell extra things u can buy like add on's
i had acura tl i had pionner avic d2 with voice command / wheel controls
it was very worth it for that add on it was only $50 bucks

but yah if you dont no about the add on's and the extras find out the make and model of ur head unit and research it on the web see if you can find any extra's i know for a fact pionner, has wheel controls

and pionner has very good double din and flip out screens
its the best ones out
but to the fact that i didnt go with it for my benz cause i got a very good deal on alpine with every extra wheel controls , voice command, rear view cam

I am in the same boat, but a little different. I have a 2001 w208 so it has the buttons, but I also have the intergrated phone. So if I went with an after market NAV it would have to have to work with that as well. Anyway, you can find COMMANDs ranging from $500 to $700 on eBay. Considerably more if you get it from the dealer. Then you would have to get it installed, parts and labor could cost an extra couple hundred dollars.

if you wanna get after market radio with dvd nav
you can how ever.... there is many ways to make ur buttons to work
i dont know about the phone tho
but how ever they make newer radios that is ready blue tooth
wich is very good
i have acura tl with pionner's newest head unit avic-d3
i got it fully loaded ipod wire,blue tooth, rear view cam
for under $1000 plus installing

some head units make voice commands/buttons
or
you can buy a thing called * pac * at ur local audio shop it will hook up on ur stock wheel buttons and will work on ur after market radio
dont know about the phone tho i know vol, track will work for sure
