Looks Or Speed Can't Decide

Okay So i Said Freak The 430 and can't decide between a 2003 clk320 which in my eyes looks better on the inside adn out maybe because its a newer design, but the interior feels totally right, or the clk55 amg 2001, the 01 amg has 80,000 miles, and the 320 has 64,00 miles. help pls need to make decision by end of week

Go with the 01 amg w208 personally looks way better than a w209 and you can always make exterior changes to the amg

+1 for 208 55! you'd downgrade to a 320 engine?? the 209 bodystyle is nice, but i have no probs with the 208. the 55 is money mi amigo

If I were going to buy a W209, it would HAVE to be a CLK500 at a minimum. I would get very tired of the six. However, if you don't care about speed, and you like the way the W209 looks (if you like it, do yourself a favor and avoid the Jeremy Clarkson column this week), go for it. One question, why not buy a W209 V8?

i was trying to keep a price range between 15 and 25, the cheapest clk500 i saw was 32,000, the clk320 is 22,000 and the 55amg is 16,000...so the price im dealing with those two fit the best, and now when i drive my lexus or test drive another car it dont feel right, i drove the s500 and the cl500 but hear the suspension is faulty, i drove a 2000 sl500, it was cool, but too boxy for me...so i guess im stuck on the clk's for life now

342, and yes. it's very fast. the interior is much nicer on my 01 than it was on my 99 model. the main difference (besides the power) is that the suspension is stiff, but i enjoy that.

Agree with MarcusF. If its reallly time to upgrade from a 320 you need a V8. If you dont you might always have that , I should of just got one...kinda like what I have with the 430, always thinking 55.

I would go with the 55 just for the mere fact of what it is. THe W209 is nice overall, and I have thought of getting one in the future, but it would have to be a 55. I'm sure that you've heard that the W209 just doesnt have then "BENZ" look...the rear is a bit skinny for me, and overall this model tends to blend into the "normal" look.

I think if you drove the 55 you'd be hooked. I haven't driven one, but I was looking at the 320's for a while and once I drove a 430 there was just no comparison. The 430 was so much more fun. Now I wish I had a 55.

I'm sorry, but if you need to ask, you should probably get the 320. The 55 is only meant for people who are really in love with it. Good luck, andi hope your happy with the final decision.

I'm a female and I say definitely go for the 55, the bodystyle is much sexier then the 209. In my opinon, the 209 is a more girly car than our 208's. Plus dont you think that you would be much happier with the speed and power of the 55 rather than the w209?? We all have out opinions, but when it comes down to it, its just a matter of what you like the best.

the 55 only costs <$500 more a yr in gas to operate over the 430 which may be worth the fun. Why don't the new V8 benz's have the active fuel mgmt system which shuts down power to conserve fuel. The new Vettes push out 400 hp with 18/28 MPG rating.

The 209 does look like a girly car. The V8 sounds monster, the speed is a thrill, gas is higher, pay is not increasing at the same rate as gas. Decisions decisions decisions

Go 55 esp given how low the prices are these days, plus you will always wonder about it if you dont...

P.S. Ahmad, did you end up selling your 430? or is it now your daily driver?

Between the two options, you should definitely go with the 55.

I agree, w208 is a timeless design. Drove mine to work today, a co-worker who is a little older but is a gearhead himself in his day..thought the car was brand new...he called it "fancy shamnsy benz"- didnt believe it was an 2002 model at all..
