thanks theine..

actually, in order to fir them on the CLK, you have to make sure you get these sizes:

Front: 8.5x18 235/40ZR18
Rear: 9.5x18 265/35ZR18

Michelin Pilots recommended!

Here are mine..

Ahmed,

Your can looks great. I'm planning to lower mine with Eibach too, but I'm on the fence if to stay with stock shocks or change to aftermarket. I'm lowering mainly for the looks, and want to perserve the smooth ride.

What do you have .... and experience.

Nice Looking car............

hey guys,
Thanks for the nice looking pictures and advices. The tire size 235/40-18 and 265/35-18 seems a bit bigger than the orginal tire size which 225/45-17 and 245/40-17. Do you eve run into any problem with the transmission, speed reading instrument or anything due to the larger tire size?? Did you do any fender modification to fit the rim?? Btw, doo you have more pictures from different angle that you can show me??? Thanks a lot, guys...

.............i have 18x8.5 LM5 wheels in my CLK with 225/40/18 in front and 265/35/18 in rear. No problem. The widest you can go in front is 235 in order to prevent rubbing.

Ahmed,
Very nice looking car....
Are you sure your rim is 18x8.5 Front and 18x9.5 Rear. They only have it in 18x10 Rear in the U.S?? Does the tire size that you recommanded cause any problem when making turns??? Did you happen to use the wheel spacer or fender modification ?? Please advise, Thanks.

that wheel has been phased out, so it will be hard to find any size here in the US.

thnks everyone,

I got my wheels through a distributor in the UK. Including the tires that they recommended.

they are difinitely 8.5 in the front, and 9.5 at the rear!

I am experiencing the following:

PROS:

Better handling and grip
Better top end speed
Amazing ride feel
Less traction loss ( bloody triangle doesnt blink as much anymiore)

CONS:

Rubbing on bumps
Slightly slower acceleration.

No spacers and no roling fenders required.

I think YENPINGW is referring to genuine AMG 2-piece SL rims, and the wheels on Ahmed's car are replicas. These are available in the UK quite readily, and I think you can still get the 9.5" size from Bekkers in the US.

The genuine AMG rims, with an offset of ET25 in the rear, don't fit the CLK very well... however, some machining (if you're brave) can take care of this.

actually, there was a guy on this forum, i think his name was rezaH or something like that. He had these wheels ( geniune ) on his 320 cab. Check out the early pages of the picture thread, u might see it. he has a homepage as well. I think it look really sweet. NO MODS required.

He had 18x8.5 all around. 18x10 with ET25 for the rear will stick out way too much. Even RezaH's fronts stuck out a bit, because ET25 for the fronts is probably 10mm+ too much offset.

Thanks a lot, guys for the wonderful advice.
Is there any way that you guys can think of to mount this set of wheels (front and rear) on the w208?? It might need some modification, but can it be done?? I have not yet changed my spring and shock. Would it cause a porblem when I lower it afterwards. Please advise, Thanks a lot.

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
That wheel was available....

for the 208 on the AMG options list, but it did require machine work. It might work if the rear was shaved 10-12 MM or so, but there is very little room for error on the rear of the 208 suspension (sway bar mounting, etc). And yes, the 8.5 would probably work, but it does go too far out of the fender, and the 208 definitely looks better with the wider in the rear. I believ Bekkers(east coast) and NR (LA) both carry the replicas, perhaps they could advise. Hope this helps.

hmmm.. i think ur rught!

I'd like it if they were 8 at the front and 9 at the rear, just like the standard AMG wheels on the 55.

But so far I have no practical problems. And there is no way i'm gonna let anyone touch my fenders!! YUK, just the idea of deforming my sweetheart love of my life... ooh!!!

I feel a lot better no that i've expressed my inner feelings!

The standard AMG wheels on the CLK55 are 7.5" on the front, ET35, and 8.5" on the rear, ET30.

Hi guys:

I found there is a site at AMG that'll show you how your CLK fit with their wheels. Enjoy!

yeah i know, what i meant was the standard monoblocks in 18 inch on the 55. Just like the ones that come standard on the E55.

Most CLK55 i've seen have the 18 inch monoblocks on them. And they're difinitely 8 at the front and 9 at the rear.

Really? I've never seen a CLK55 with those wheels on it. I even own one. Most people that switch wheels go to something other than AMG, because the car already came with 17" AMG wheels.
