The 722.6 transmission uses full synthetic (MB specific) ATF.
Doesn't use Dexron or Mercon ATF - you can get the MB fluid through online retailers or buy it from your local MB dealer.

ONLY USE MB FLUID
I changed mine about 1.5 years ago and I was told ONLY to use the original MB trans fluid.
I did it myself on a lift so I hope you have a lift if you plan on doing this yourself as well. It is going to be really difficult getting to some bolts without having the car up in the air.

what year? 98s and 99s have a torque coverter drain plug.
If I remeber right, we drained 9qts. Also, you don't need a lift, just raise the front as high as you can.
Make sure to replace the filter.

i have been changing mine every 30K miles with regular transmission oil with no problem and i drive my car like i stole it 2/3 of the time. as long as you change every 30 no need to put synthetic.
just my 2 cents.

IV never own a mb and all my cars have been older like 1991 and IV had a few tranny problems so I'm really scared that the trannys gonna fail on this one but it is a newer car and every thing runs good and people say it a mb the quality is good don't worry
Should I be as paranoid as I am thinking my trannys gonna go any day because IV done so much driving in 8 months 30000km and all IV done is change the oil do these cars hold up well I hope I have couple of months to stack money for my car

Jreddy,
You only have 157,000 KM which is about 95,000 miles so your tranny should still be in good condition and I wouldn't worry much about it. I would although do some maintenace on it. MB states that the tranny has lifetime fluid but when I changed mine at 100,000 miles (160,000 KM) it was already a nasty grey gummy color and I know that it was not lubricating much anymore. So I would suggest that you change both your Tranny fluid and your rear differential fluid. The tranny is really easy (just dont forget the bell housing) and the rear differential takes a little more time but it will be well worth it in the long run. Hope this helps!
