NEED SOME HELP GUYS!?
So i never posted on here before but been on the site many times. Helped me with a lot of problems i had with my car. Anyways its my first time posting and i had a a problem with 1999 clk430
I went somewhere, locked the car and when i came back and tryed to start it the steering wheel was locked and wont let me start the car at all! i tryed replacing the battery and messed with everything for a good 2-3 hours and its not working. The key wont turn at all seems like its locked or something!? If there's anything i can do that you no of please reply to this asap? Thanks a lot.

2 things it could be your crankshaft position sensor, i would recommend to replace it and see how it goes, is pretty cheap and you can do it yourself there is a tons of DYI in here on how to replace it, if that does not work you would need a new ignition starter.

Ya i have had problems with the remote sometimes, it wont let me unlock or lock sometimes but its working just fine now and where can i get more info on the crankshaft position sensor? thanks alot

If that doesn't work, it may be the key. When inserted, a Mercedes-Benz smart key sends an infrared data signal. If the security system likes the signal from the key, the steering is unlocked (electronically), the ignition circuit is turned on, and the starter will operate. It will do this even if the batteries in the smart key are dead. It sounds like you're saying the steering wheel won't unlock. The crankshaft position sensor is used to determine engine speed. I don't think it has anything to do with the steering wheel lockout, but I could be wrong.

I also think it is the key because usually ryte when u insert the key it clicks and unlocks the steering wheel and when i put the key it wont do anything and wont make that click sound to unlock the steering wheel. I spoke to many ppl and they said it has something to do with the key. Is the best way to get a key for the car the dealership? Because i did see keys on ebay for very cheap but wasnt sure how they will work?
