when idleing, car shakes alot?

the cars always done this, and i never really paid attention to it, but im just wondering what the problem could be. The car runs smooth, but when sitting at a light or idleing, the car vibrates/shakes more than i think it should..why would this be? motor mounts?

ignition wires and plugs. most likely the ignition wires.

motor mount check:
with the foot on the break and in drive, step on the throttle. if you hear a clunk or knock, it's the mounts.

Engine Shaking

How many miles do you have on the car? I 'm at 88,500 and mine is doing the same thing. If you stick it in neutral does it stop?

Motor mounts look good

I have the same problem on my '99 CLK320 w/ 94,000 miles. I just bought the car and the misfire/shake at idle has been there since I bought the car. When I put the clk in neutral or 2-foot it and rev the engine slightly the shaking goes away.

Today I removed the motor mounts (part # A2032410413) and they look brand new . I'm installing my new mounts just for grins. I have replaced my spark plugs and the wires look fine. Is there an idle air control valve that I could clean??? Would a Mass Air Sensor cause the check engine light to come on? I thought a miss fore would cause the check engine light to come on too?

Any other ideas?

Exclamation hey

Mines doing the same thing. shakes like the car's going to die on a stop light but when i put it in neutral and give it a little gas it stops. Also when it does that the lights and radio kinda dims a little then comes back after it stops shaking. What could be causing this??? atleast now i know that im not the only one with this problem.

2006 CLS55 AMG(this week)
Car idles rough in park and reverse

All,

As of late I've been experiencing an issue where when I back up or when I'm sitting idle at a stop light I have this loud vibration in my car. It almost sounds like a subwoofer vibration. The car is an '03 CLK55 AMG. When I took it to the mechanic he informed me it was the rubber engine mounts that are wearing away now the engine is starting to rest on the frame. He informed me the cost is going to be about $650. I trust this mechanic as I've been with him for awhile now and he's always taken care of me. I just wanted to run it by the forum and get a second opinion if this sounds correct and if the price is reasonable for that job? Look forward to your responses before I drop it off tomorrow.

I think $650.00 is high.I would expect a $300 - $400 price on this job.I think the mounts might be $50 each - thats $100.00 One hour max per side - $135 x 2 = $270 $370 total.

He also said why he had it up he might have to change the transmission mount as well? Perhaps you do them both at the same time?

The hardware he said was about $150. So 2 engine mounts plus transmission mount = $488 for services the rest hardware.

$135 x 3 = $405... right? Still a little high?

I just called Mercedes on this and they gave me a quote of $900 for the 2 engine mounts and transmission mounts. Even if $650 is high it's worth making sure the job gets done right I suppose.

Does anyone else have a 2003 CLK55 AMG? I have about 100k miles on it now and I'm starting to wonder if it would be worth me purchasing some type of warranty service at this point. Does anyone have a warranty company they've worked with that turned out to be a good deal?
