oil change/tune up

hi guys, i just recently got a 2001 clk430 with 69,000 miles. the owner tell me that he get it service every 10k with a mobile 1 oil change synthetic. i am guessing mobile1 should get it change every 5k miles? and also do you do oil change yourself? i rather do it myself then bringing it to a mb dealership and get charge like crazy. thanks

get the Costco oil..need 8.5 qts...just buy the filter (you don't need the housing on is on your link)..afer you unscrew the housing, you slip off the old filter, replace the 3 "O" rings on the housing, and then slip on the new filter. Pour the oil directly into the filter tube (avoids mess pouring into oil fill cap).
I use a suction vacuum to remove the old oil...saves getting under the car)

Changing the oil / filter is a very easy DIY.

I only use the Mann (OES) Polyester Fleece Media for extended Extended Service (not the paper types) and Mobile 1, 0W-40.

It's the same filter sold by the MB dealer (in MB package and part number) and they only use Mobile 1, 0W-40. The faster a thin film of lubricant gets on the surfaces, the better and the wider range provides more protection.

All the filters some with (5) O rings now.....the W208 only uses (4) and the W209 uses all (5). Make sure the large one is seated properly, in the grove and not up against the cap lip (otherwise it will leak).

I've found a pump that attaches to an electric drill, to suck the old oil out of the dip stick tube, to be far faster and easier than a vacuum type

I do it around 8000 only because I have nothing else to do....MB recommends 10,000 which is OK. Read your manual under fss resetting....pg111...basically, call up the service interval using your wheel buttons(same menu as speed/mileage...), press the "r" button on left side of cluster for a few seconds...you'll get a message and just confirm "yes"

Haven't got a clue what your talking about..what has your phone got to do with anything dealing with oil changes and resetting? If you are referring to "calling up" in last post...please get out your manual and read how to do it.
