Wheel tire advice
Hey All,
I am brand new to the forum. I recently aquired a 2001 Silver CLK 320 with 14,000 miles. It has been in my aunt's garage for nine years! Anyway it has the original 16x7 wheels in chrome. I am looking to spice it up a bit and am getting alot of conflicting information. I wanted to get the five spoke AMG wheels like the ones that are shown in the brochure (was still in the trunk!) on the convertable that year. It seems that either the convertable or the 430 had those rims. 2002 it went from the 208 to the 209 chasis. I can get replica's in 17x7.5 or re-done or used ones in 17x8.5. What is my range in non staggered rims that will fit the 208 with no mods or mess up any electronic sensors? I like either the five spoke AMG's or the newer five split spoke Amg's. I am looking adsitco and usarims. Are those good options or are there better? HELP!!!!!!!!!!
thank in advance!

Here is a link with a picture of the car and rims. bad phot but maybe you can zoom in. Kind of like the ones in your photo but chrome and more of a rounded spoke. Who makes the best replica MB rims in a 17 inch? adsitco?
thanks!

What? No love for the stagger? I'm going to guess you want to rotate them for maximum tire life. That results in the least amount of traction, but that's a different thread and I'll try not to wander.
I think my 8.5x17 OEM rims (rears for a CLK430) will fit the front. I doubt my rear tires (255/40) will though. You'll have to get someone to confirm whether he standard 245/40's will fit the fronts without rubbing.
Whatever you end up with, rims do not throw off the wheel speed sensors; differences in rolling diameter do. The original equipment 225/45-17 and 245/40-17 tires had approximately the same rolling diameter. If you use the same sized tires front and rear (and it sounds like you will), you won't have a sensor problem - regardless of what width rims you use.

Thanks man! The AMG wheels on the car in your email (is that your car?) are just what I am looking for. The ones I have seen on ebay used are 17x8 front and 17x8.5 if I am not mistaken. I would consider staggering if I could get a good set. I guess they would work fine with no mods other than larger lugs. Would be tough to find a replacement if one gets tweeked though! I see several companies sell replica's but tough to locate OEM's new. Perfomance Wheel has some that say AMG but are like 800 a rim. The search continues!

Here you go Basta12. The 2002 CLK cab would fall under the "CLK Class (A/C208)" category in this list: http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/inf.../mercedes-benz
