Heater Core Leaking.... A little help please.....
Heater core is starting drip, and I would like to know if there is an easy way to by pass it since I'm in Florida, and hardly ever use the heat. There seems to be a valve with a harness plugged in at the top of the right fender towards the back. Can this be done without causing some computer problems, or should I just replace the core , and be done with it? TIA....

Disconnect the duovalve. Of course, I don't know whether the default is open or closed. After disconnecting it, the AC diagnostics can be used to check heater core coolant temps. If it's way below engine coolant temps, the default is closed.
Of course, it could be the drip tube for the evaporator. An easy way to tell is to taste it. Both taste like crap, but coolant is especially bad. Toxic too, but you'd have to drink a lot to get ill.

Thank you for the info. The liquid dripping into the car is green, so I'm assuming it's antifreeze. If it was from the a/c it would be clear, correct? Thanks for that little a/c diagnostic trick, I'm gonna check that out later.... I did a little research, and found out that the duovalve default position is open, so I guess I'll have to block off the feed hose to the valve... Thanks again, Rick...

at the least you'll wanna flush that out. MB needs a specific anti corrosion for the aluminum components. I use the MB spec but I think there are cheaper alternatives. For the gallon or two that you'll need it's just not worth it for me to shop around. If your core did go I wonder if the green goo had anything to do with it??

The MB antifreeze/coolant is dyed a yellow/amber color.
www.autohausaz.com sells the genuine MB product or you can use Zerex G05
