New Tire Opinion needed

I am upgrading the tires and wheels on my w208. I bought the car with 18" AMG wheels on it. I have just purchased a new set of 19" CL 65 AMG rims and looking for some different opinions on what brand of tire to go with. I'm leaning toward the Pirelli P-Zero 235/35 in front and 255/30/19 in the rear. I'm wanting the best bang for my buck so to speak.

I've had good luck with Falken for my CLK. Great price, and they grip well enough to avoid wheelspin for all but the hardest launches.

I have no idea what you're looking for (performance, wet handling, noise, wear, etc.) so that would help narrow down the choice. Fortunately, since you're not in the northern states you won't have to worry about snow tires I'm not sure how much rainfall LA gets but I would guess a fair amount. I almost always recommend a few of my top researched tires: Falken FK452, Dunlop Star Direzza DZ101, Hankook Ventus V12 Evo, or General Exclaim UHP. I think these all balance dry/wet handling quite well, as well as noise, wear, and price point. Obviously, none of these aren't "PS2" standard but at nearly half the cost who cares? It's worth mentioning that in a tire test by Car & Driver (if memory serves me correctly) the Hankooks came in 2nd after the PS2s. Research accordingly to find out if any of these fit your standards.

I'm currently riding on brand new Nitto Invos and haven't had a chance to test them out that much, but I can definitely say while they're a tad louder than the Continetal OEMs they have much better dry handling and slightly better wet handling than the Contis. They don't have the best treadwear (rated at 260) and their sidewalls are a little soft, but the performance benefits definitely surpass their price point. Then again, I would say every tire I've mentioned thus far would beat the Contis in every category other than wear and noise. The handling on the Contis are just terrible and I had zero confidence in their ability to handle some asphalt punishment. I kinda regret not going with the Hankooks as they're just an overall fantastic tire and will most likely go with these for my next set.

Thanks twinsin. I will look into the ones you mentioned. I have had several sets of hankook tires on different vehicles and were very satisfied. I'm just new to all things MB so I wanted opinions of other drivers for the exact reasons you just explained. Thanks for your help.

AMG
I can recommend you stay away from Nitto 555. Horrible in the wet.

My favorite tires are PS2s, but have had good luck with Toyo T1Rs

I put a set of Continental ExtremeContactDW's on my car last summer and have been very happy...not overly expensive or loud, and good performance. Good luck

Hi checkout www.1010tires.com. put some options in and put a tick in the "Show Tires Made in Each Size" box then click on the tire it give rating and reviews. I recommend you check it out.

P.S. Bridestone RE760 are fantastic.
