Best Break Pads

Hmmm, I think I'm a pretty aggressive driver and I thought that the way I use my breaks I'd have already burned through them years ago but my pads seems like they have another 11 years to go. The pads I have I got here in Japan, can't remember the brand.

If the pads are wearing pretty slow, and you've got some free time, check the rotor thickness with a micrometer. My rotors usually last through two sets of pads. After the second set, my rotors are always out of spec / too thin. I don't turn the rotors after the first set of pads are done, they just wear.

Awesome question! Last month my car was up for yearly inspection, and i decided to take it to my independent machanic (MB) of course Anyway, I've never got my front, and rear brakes changed , and I have owned this car since 05' but i knew it was time to get them done. Originally i wanted to get my bearings changed due to the wife and her love of doing touch and go with the crib to my wheels.
So indy called and replaced my front brakes pads, bearings both sides, and completed my A sservice, but the rear pads are still good! Yes it's not hard for pads to age gracefully, but it does depend on how much /hard you drive.

Beware that, on the W208/A208 there are no brake pad wear senors on the rear axle.
The fabled German engineering put wear sensors only on both the left and right sides of the front axle and none on the rear brakes.
Although there was no 'warning' of worn pads, changed my front pads at 85K miles (e.g. after 14 years) and just recently the rears at 95K miles (e.g. 16 years later), just in case.
Go figure.
PS: My guess is that MB figured that customers' would always have A and B services done, have the dealer check the condition of their brakes, wiper blades, filters, tires, fluid levels etc., for as long as they owned the vehicle.
