What's the latest your dealer is telling you about the delivery/release date?

Although I am unfortunate and only have a 320 on order, I saw several 500's "In Production" on my dealer's sheet -- looks like they are making 500's before 320's. None of the 20 320's he had on order were on his production sheet.

Eariest production date I have seen is July 17th....no telling when keys will be handed out though. 500's have to go over to AMG for fitting -- adds a couple of days -- then shipping, customs -- and finally US-specific fittings (radios, phones, etc).

30-40 days is likely the time from production to customer.

I still don't have a build date for my 500. It is the first one ordered here in Tampa. (so I am told)- Bitter Benzo

My dealer has informed me that my CLK500 has been built and has faxed me a copy of the order WITH A VIN! Built but not shipped....

I called the owner of the Mercedes dealership here in New York where I'm getting my car today to find out what the deal is with my car. I know this other jabronie, who posts on this board, that has a car on order from the same dealership, and he's received a tracking number. When I spoke to the owner, he told me that the dealership hasn't "earned" my car yet (I'm #7 on the list..), and that even though I had my car ordered in May, he doesn't know when I'll have the car. Sucks for me.

Spoke to my salesman at Star Motors in Houston. My CLK 500 cleared customs at the port on the 15th of July. The release date is August 1st. Should have it at the dealer by then.

That Jabrone Likuid5 was talking about is me! My car got assigned a boat last week and it shipped Friday from the port! It's on the water and it should arrive at the VPC in 2 weeks, then from there your guess is as good as mine on how long it will take

I did hear though that they are supposed to be building them every day and shipping frequently. I don't know what else is happening, but my friend from Mercedes told me that it's not that hard a car to get!

Well I sold my CLK 430 yesterday, so I am driving a rental POS.

As of yesterday, my CLK 500 was showing "in process" at the Vehicle Preparation Center (VPC) in Jacksonville, Florida, where its been for two weeks.

It's looking like they need to put it on a truck soon to get to Houston by Thursday (August 1). My dealer did say the CD player was only $400.

I also wrote an e-mail to MB-USA to one the marketing mucky-mucks. I'll let you know if I hear.

Seams to be a huge waste of working capital to have cars just sitting around.

CLK less for now!

but I heard on the grapevine that both the E and CLK are due to be released to the public on august 9th as of now, but mercedes changes their minds every other day so we shall see....if that is the case though it means CLK waiters have to wait an extra week, while E class waiters can get their first cars 2 weeks earlier than previously scheduled...time will tell
