I currently drive an A4 now and it's getting time for a new car. I love my Audi, but I am going through evaluating all cars. Forgetting the 10K more for a new CLK, I am down to a new S4 or CLK 500. The Audi has over 40bhp more and quattro. But you can not beat the styling of the CLK. The real problem is that I live on long Island where every other person has a CLK. I like that only real car people know what a S4 is. Any advise is welcome.

I sold a 2001 S-4 last March and got a 330xi and a CLK500 recently. I know the S4 now offers alot more horsepower but the CLK500 looks far better and has alot of cool options available.

The new S4 should outperform the CLK500 but I am not sold on the looks of the Audi just yet. I have an 02 S4 and like the body style better than the new A4- but that is my opinion.

I have seen the CLK 500 and it looks sweet- if you are not too worried about the Quattro then I would get the CLK. If you need that performance then the S4 should be the better bet.

NEW S4, definitely the NEW S4. You'll get the performance and also the comfort and convinience of a 4 door.

I think the S4 will be cheaper too. Heck, even a C32 is cheaper than the CLK500.

i think it all comes down to if you want a 2door or a 4door. but even with a 4door i will go with frank and get a c32, the styling of the new audis are not my cupa tea

Test drive S4 last weekend, the old one.
I'm impressive of it's easy to upgrade, 315 ps by a single chip.
New S4 is now a NA V8.
V8 is a step up than those V6 bi-turbo or S/C.......speed is not everything, IMHO.

Quattro do make a lot of fun & practible in snow area.
CLK500 is a charming lady in another way.

How's your girl's comment ?

it's funny that now Audi switch from FI V6 to V8 in the S4 when the MB switch from V8 to FI V6 in the C32. while BMW still rely on their legendary I-6.

I drive a 4.2 A6 and my CLK. The Audi quattro system is awesome and the V8 is a strong engine, however, if I could only have 1 car, I would probably stick with Mercedes. Even with H& R coilovers, BBS RKIIs and GIAC engine and tip chips, the Audi is a second class citizen in my garage. On the other hand, I'd take the Audi V-8 over the CLK 320 any day.

Both are great cars! however if you're looking for that extra power i'd go with the S4!
