Adding a W211 E55 airbox
hey guys, i am thinking of purchasing the w211 E55 airbox, do you guys think it will fit with no problems? do i have to purchase anything extra to fit it? Please i would appreciate any info or advise you can give me, thanks.

Im not sure what u need but there is one thing I know for sure that you need a Y pipe to connect to your MAF sensor then you have custom the cover to fit that airbox. Remember the E55 has the kormpressor in between the air box but we dont have it so thats why u need something to cover that Area.

so in other words a clk55 airbox will be a direct bolt on? is the E55 box better? i know its harder to bolt on the E55 box too but is it better than the clk55 box?

the e55 box will give you better flow most likely but its going to be a retrofit, and good luck trying to make it look good. Basicly everything performance we do to our cars is worthless with out a tune.

There's NO WAY you can tune a "mods" car right just by sending in your ECU !!!! Unless, they already have a tuned file for your model with exact same mods. If the ECU upgrade is based on the stock car then it would not be a problem. I've been around tuning people/shop that I know enough what can be done right or wrong. I used the have the HPS supercharger on my CL 55 that blew up on the freeway right after it tuned. I've also seen the 2 exact same car (C55) with the exact same supercharger installed but won't run right with the exact same tuned file. Why? Because on mods tuned car, they tuned it to the max/limit in timing, fuel...etc. and if one car has a couple different mods then the other, sometime, that's just enough to throw out the tuned spec..

i just did this to my SL, Blackbenzz helped me out a lot on the install, dont get the N/A Amg box, makes no real diff. Take your maf out, it makes it easier, take the lil gasket out of the y pipe, put the y pipe on the maf n drill a hole, then put black silicone or sealant around the top of the maf, put the y pipe back on the maf n put a screw in the hole. hold it for a couple of minutes, then put the maf back on, attach the other ends to the air cleaner assembly, finally get a small cap for the inlet pipe for the super charger on the y pipe. I also put the sl550 air hoses, n used thermoshield on the bottom of the air boxes along with k n filters

hey guys, tuning shouldnt be a problem because tvt_design is in new jersey and i am in new york so i will go to their shop.
Omar, that sounds like a lot of work bro, did you put a kompressor airbox on your SL?

Yes he did. Remove the MAF clip/bracket is really a *****. If you never done it, you will break the clip/bracket very easy.

i have the E55K air bok on my clk 500. it fits really tight. no real noticible power gain. although the intake temp is probally like around 20 degrees lower than stock.

cool, did you get your ecu tuned as well dude? also do you mind posting pics? how much did it run you? someone installed it for you?
